Mission: Survival of the fittest
Location: Bridge
Timeline: Ep 2 1000

[ON]

Frank walked across the bridge looking over various consoles as the senior officers stood their watches. There were even a few Ensigns on the bridge training with their Department Heads. Frank enjoyed seeing the growth of his crew and their camaraderie, especially since the Kazon ambush. It had been weeks since they left Iota Station, the crew repaired as much as they had been able too. "Anything interesting going on?" Frank asked aloud to no one in particular.

Naomi was busy going through reports from her seat she had gotten used to the nose on an active bridge, but still jumped when the Captain spoke, as she had nothing to report she remained silent and returned to her reports.

The lift doors opened then and Ensign Doe entered pushing an old serving cart. On its lipped top was a couple of pots of coffee, a kettle of hot water with assorted tea bags. As well as a stack of disposable cups. It rattled as it moved that metallic rickety sound. the second tier had an assortment of snacks predominantly doughnuts. She smiled at all the people so hard at work. Then she smiled at the Captain. "I brought coffee for everyone." She said as if this fact had not been obvious enough upon her arrival. Tomorrow would be engineering's turn for a visit.

Wulfgar looked over and smiled at Jane. He was standing next to Ops, a PADD in hand watching the bridge crew at their jobs. He shook his head in answer to the Captain's question. He knew the Captain knew of what was new with him. He stepped over to the cart. "Can I get a cup of coffee please?" He asked Jane.

"Of course. Five sugars and no cream right?" Jane asked hoping she remembered it correctly as she moved to pour the requested drink. It was always so nice to see Wulfgar. It was like a perk of today's adventures.

Assisting at the science station was the resident Dalacari, Vespa Kale. Her twin forms worked with an odd harmony, never really quite managing to get in her own way. Her ears perked at the mention of coffee, something she had read up on when getting ready to make the transition to live with Single Instance Life. "Ooo, I'd love to try some." she made a quiet request, not to yell over the serenity of the bridge. "It's bitter, I've heard. It's supposed to be right? Oh, and I love the colour." she started, though her twin picked up the conversation quickly.

"We have something *like* coffee back home. Except it's blue. Well, good for a change." as she was talking, her other silent self knelt down to inspect the second tier. "Oh these are absolutely darling!" her standing form spoke. Apparently, the pair shared their experiences. What one saw, the other saw as well.

"What are those?" the pair asked, now both forms hunkered down to inspect the doughnuts and assorted snacks.

"Those round ones with the holes are doughnuts. The round ones with the white drizzle are cinnamon rolls, those long ones with the chocolate topping are strawberry filled, and the ones next to them with the maple tops are custard-filled. Then for those not into sugar, I have bagels with cream cheese, warm corn muffins, and finger sandwiches." Jane pointed out for her friend.

LT Rouni smiled, "I will take of a cup of coffee, Black. Captain course laid in and set at Warp 1. The ship is working nicely at this time."

Sleeford squatted next to the Ops console as Lt Hunter went through the procedures of manning ops, "So we can distribute power to various departments and science missions. Along with COMM's and transport systems"

"Yes, " replied Simon looking back at the young Ensign, "we get asked for requests from the department head for say Science who need it for an experiment," as he tapped the controls "or Security for the shooting range,"

Tag Sleeford

Hearing a rattle coming from the rear of the bridge, turning he saw the ship's counsellor with a mug, Sleeford placed gently on the floor between his feet, "Thanks Jane", turning back to Hunter, Sleeford continued to watch.

Jane began to pour out cups and take them to her various crewmates after mixing them up to order. So many familiar faces it was great to see them all and catch up and banter a bit.

Wulfgar looked over at the twin ladies next to him. He offered them a smile. "Hello, I'm Wulfgar. It's nice to meet you two. I'm an Engineer." He said as he offered his hand to the one closest to him.

Vespa offered a pair of smiles, the two ladies turning towards him in sequence. The closest took his hand pleasantly, though there was the hint of a solid grip. "It's very nice to meet you. I'm Vespa Kale, and I'm the assistant to the science division chief. It's very nice to meet you." a pause from the pair, though it was the other twin that started to speak next.

"Oh, but quick correction, I'm not a two. I'm *a* Dalacari. We're a binary instance lifeform, so what you see as two bodies is actually a healthy, intact, and whole Dalacari."

The pair giggled, and the initial speaker started up again, "I have a feeling I'll be making that little correction a lot. Don't worry, completely harmless."

Wulfgar went a bit red in the face. "My apologies." He said with a bow of his head. As for the coffee, should you find it too bitter, you can sweeten it up with sugar or just dull it with some cream. As for the treats below, the ring looking ones are doughnuts and the flat ones are cookies." He explained to Vespa.

The pair nodded. "Alright, so then let's see... I'd like a coffee, please," she said, both forms standing up at this. One form looked at Jane, who brought the treats, while the other kept her attention on Wulfgar. "A little sweet, and a little less bitter. I don't know what you add to it to do that, so I guess..."

"... surprise me. Oh, and a doughnut. Better make that a double." the pair giggled at their joke. "So, two coffees, two doughnuts."

"Don't forget to use napkins. Captain won't let me sneak up here with treats anymore if we get everything sticky." Jane said as she made her rounds through the room.

"That's right," Captain Kamar said, "The last thing we want is to have our engineer's replacing consoles full of jelly doughnuts and coffee."

Vespa gave a pause to consider. "Jane and the Captain are right, two napkins. Better make it four."

"Probably for the best," Jane said as she finished up the requested coffee orders and handed them to her friends. "It shouldn't be too hot I hope you like it, Vespa." Then to the Captain. "How about you Captain would you like anything? If not I'll take it down to the lounge."

Captain Kamar graciously took a bagel with cream cheese and black coffee; he hadn't expected this but seeing the reaction of the bridge crew he smiled slightly under his thick grey beard. He would have to be certain to thank the Counselor later. These small gestures really seemed to improve morale and invigorate the crew; Frank observed happily.

Wulfgar chuckled some more. "That's why I'm avoiding the messier food for a nice safe cookie." He said as he picked up a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie and took a bite. He shot Jane a wink then looked back at the two halves of Vespa. "I know you are one being but please forgive me if I continue to refer to you in the plural. I was great meeting you and maybe we can get together and get to know one another better." He said with a smile and a bow of his head. "I better get back to my position." He said as he glanced over at where he had been standing. "Once again, it was my pleasure meeting you ladies." He nodded to Vespa then to Jane before he returned to stand near the Ops station, finishing the cookie as he moved so that his one hand was free to work.

Jane fought the urge to watch him walk away. There was a time and place and this was neither. Instead, she busied herself in tiding up her cart to hide the slight blush on her face at his playful wink.

Vespa, woefully underacknowledged in singular instance flirtation and body language, gave a pair of smiles towards the departing Wulfgar, "It's a transition, it'll take us all time to get used to it." she offered helpfully, taking no offence. "I'd love the chance to get to know everyone so..."

"... yes, absolutely. Thanks again." and with that, the twin forms of Vespa Kale returned to her station, coffee and doughnut in hands, merrily munching along and man were those teeth sharp looking. Hoooooo.

"I'll have Raktijino, please," Shri'Rao said.

Arianna stepped from the lift just in time to grab the last bagel with cream cheese and a Raktijino. "Yes just what the doctor ordered. Thankyou Ensign Doe," she said and continued to walk to the engineering station. "Hello, Wulfgar how's she holding up?" Arianna asked her young protégé.

Wulfgar glanced up from his PADD and smiled. "Going great Ma'am, she seems to hold up just fine." He replied to Arianna.

Jane was glad to have been able to do this small thing for all of them. She took advantage of the open lift and made her exit with the cart. "Fair skies everyone I hope you find something interesting today." She called out cheerfully as the lift doors closed.

Wulfgar waved at Jane as she left. Then returned his attention back to listening to the ship and how her vibrations felt under his feet.

Frank watched things settle back down on the bridge, "Major Griffiths, we need to get some more information on this area of space, let's get the science station to demonstrate the full capabilities of our advanced scanning array."

Arianna looked at the power stats and smiled. Apparently the work both her and Wulfgar did, worked. Now hoping the scanning array worked equally as well. Gently resting her hand on Wulfgar's shoulder, "Let's see how this goes, shall we?", she said looking at the console.

Wulfgar nodded as he glanced from his PADD to the console and back. He would enter something into the PADD every now and then. "I hope it works too." He said, concentrating on the readout.

A Deer in headlights moment "yes Captain" she said and more quietly to herself as she got up from her seat and walked over to the science station "I hope I do not screw this up!" she was glad the bridge was a busy bridge full of noise as she walked over to the Science station and pulled up the screen to scan the area, she was surprised the interface was easy to use and if she got stuck there was a button that said manual "ah there is idiots guide if I need it" she gave a self-deprecating chuckle and worked the controls.

"Activating Sensor arrays Captain, piping the results through to the viewscreen" she said tapping in the corresponding buttons on the touchscreen interface.

"Lieutenant Dinter, analysis please," Frank asked the Chief Scientist.

"Aye sir" Dinter replied. "Im not getting full analysis but I do have enough to report. I'm detecting some form of unidentified life not much beyond that though.
