Aftermath

Posted on Thu Jun 8th, 2023 @ 2:10pm by Captain Dirk Taggart & Lieutenant Jennifer Matthews & Lieutenant JG Vespa Kale & Lieutenant JG Camille Lévesque PhD

Mission: Cost of Survival
Location: Bridge of Pennsylvania

Dirk watched the small space station slowly shrink away in the distance. He had shared his contact information with their leader, she had even given him a list of parts they could use to assist with further repairs. He was proud of the impact his crew had in their short time there, and hoped they could continue to have a positive impact in the Quadrant.

Jenni found herself on the bridge. While she preferred to be in Engineering, she found herself worn out from all of the repairs on the space station. Her engineering team had matters well in hand. And, well, the bridge simply had a lot less people in it. Jenni had reached well beyond her daily limit and patience for intrapersonal interaction. "Their systems should be stable for a few years, and even more so if they can keep to the maintenance schedule," she remarked.

"Great work Lieutenant Matthews, I hope they follow your advice, at least we left it better than we found it," Captain Taggart replied.

“They’re also on their way to having sustainable agriculture,” observed Camille from Science I. “They will need to work hard on it, rotate crops, recycle waste products, ainsi de suite, but they’re no longer in danger of starvation.”

"That's an upgrade from where they started. In the meantime, Lieutenant, is that nebula cloud still tracking on the same course or did it turn its heading? I want to go in the opposite direction of that thing," The Captain asked.

Vespa gave a pair of nods, "I agree, that was a fantastic project you had there. Personally I wish we had some more time to peer review it, but this wasn't meant to be..."

"... a permanent solution. More of a bandage then a procedure." Vespa paused at the mention, "Dia's knees, please let that thing be as far from us as possible."

"If I never see another nebula, it'll be too soon."

Camille examined the sensor feeds. “No change from previous readings, Captain. Did you think it would?” Curious. Why would they be concerned about a nebula?

"I didn't think we'd have any changes, maybe I'm just being paranoid," the Captain said aloud.
