Mission: Season Two - Incidentals
Location: Captains ready room

Jane rode the lift to the bridge her eyes scanned the proposals for the events she'd like to host seeking out any flaws. She could have just sent them to him through the computer. She wanted a reason though to come and check up on the Captain without it being to obvious.

Frank sat and reviewed reports, the ship would be underway in the morning, they had already loaded supplies and were ready to leave. The intelligence reports left him concerned. He chewed his cigar absent mindedly as he poured through various scenarios and possibilities.

Jane rang the chime to the ready room door announcing her arrival. She then waited shifting a bit nervouly,. Like being outside of the principal's office back in grade school. She mused.

"Enter" Frank said as he stood up, he'd been sitting for an extended period of time reviewing logs and reports. He saw the counselor enter, "Hello Counselor, can I get you something? I'm about to make some coffee."

"Yes coffee would be lovely please." Jane said as she made her way into the office. "So how are you and your family doing? Still alright?" She asked casually and with genuine curiosity.

"We are doing well, continuing to work nearly round the clock, but now that we're away from the station things will calm down hopefully. How are you settling in to your new quarters and office?" Frank asked.

"I am settling in quite well thank you. Has that home away from home quality to it. I wanted to thank you by the way for allowing me the privilege of being on the bridge for the launch. I have never been allowed before and the experience was a lasting one I can assure you.' Jane said unable to stop the wistful smile. "This is all very new to me and I would like you to know that I am open to constructive criticism as I learn to navigate these newer waters with you and your crew."

Frank smiled, "I assumed you would appreciate some bridge time, I've brought the doctor up as well at other times. I was an engineer, and the only time I was on the bridge was to man the terminal, I never got the chance to just take in the sights. It is something I am trying to provide my crew that I didn't experience first hand until later in my career. Ensign, I believe you are navigating the waters of your position exceptionally. You came aboard a damaged vessel with a damaged crew. Your joyful personality has brightened nearly every crew member you've come in contact with. I didn't expect a Senior Counselor when you came aboard, I just wanted someone to be there to help my crew deal with everything. In my opinion you have done that and more. The fact that you are sitting here now, asking how else to help the crew speaks volumes to your level of dedication. All I can say is to just keep doing what you're doing. They need a counselor and friend they can trust to go to, and you are doing that extremely well."

Jane fought back the happy tears. She was so glad that she had been able to make such an impact in so short a time. "It felt like home the moment I came aboard. I'm proud to list the Pennsylvania as my first official duty station as far as Starfleet is consernd. This ship and it's crew are really something special and I am just thankful to be a part of it."

"We are glad to have you aboard, your impact has been instantaneous. I am looking for big things from you Counselor. Is there anything else I can help you with?" Frank asked kindly.

Jane cleared her throat a bit and holding back the desire to give a nearly gleeful screech of joy. It really ment a lot to her. Still she composed herself and instead sat the data padd she was still holding down on his desk. "A list of events and activities I'd like to schedule. Nothing to obismal. A cooking class, yoga and meditation classes, touch therapy and massage,. Things like that. Also I'd like approval for the use of cargo bay 3 every Saturday from seven o clock to ten o clock in the evening. For a recreation purposes as I know the holodecks are usually scheduled heavily through the weekends." Jane explained.

"Check with Ensign Frav he is the shuttle manager, as far as the rest goes feel free to begin immediately," Frank replied. "As the acting Chief Counselor, you have my permission to schedule morale events as you feel is adequate. As long as my calendar is not one big party I will go along with it."

"There is one more thing. You see I know that I am supposed to keep myself available for the crews disposal. However I'd like to ask permission to begin studying a course in Kazon culture and languages." Jane said, "I was enrolled in one such class on the Iota station and my instructor is willing to set time aside to tutor me in the afternoons from thirteen hundred hours to fifteen hundred hours three days a week. I know that time isn't exactly optimal however it is the only open time my instructor has available to do it. I do feel like it's something that I should persue until we receive a diplomatic officer to help in advising you in future interactions with the Kazon." She went on to explain.

"The Kazon are difficult to deal with but I won't hold you back from learning. You can set aside that time for training and good luck, Kazon can be ruthless," Frank replied. "Anymore requests Ensign?"

"None for now. Just remember that should you need me I am here." Jane said her customary smile returning in all its vigor.

"Thank you Ensign, I will be sure to attend one of your upcoming events, Good day," Frank said and dismissed the Counselor. He was impressed with her eagerness to help the crew and hoped they would embrace her positivity.

Jane nodded and took her leave. There was so much to be done.
