Mission:
Onboarding & Departure
Location: Observation Lounge
[ON]
[Ready Room 0900]
Captain Frank Kamar Jr, sat at his desk chewing his unlit cigar and reviewing paperwork. With a slight grin, he finished reading the approval for something he had begun a few days earlier. It had been nearly 48 hours since the Hirogen incident. Today was the last day of shore leave and tomorrow Pennsylvania would be returning to operational status to begin it's patrol and mapping mission.
"Computer On
Dictate message to all Senior Staff:
This is the Captain, I am requesting your presence in the Forward Observation Lounge this evening at 2000 hours. Attendance is mandatory and all attendees will be in Dress Uniforms. Thank You.
Computer Send Message"
Frank pulled his dress uniform out and began straightening it out and preparing it to wear for the evening,
"Computer replicate the Task Force Commanding Officer's badge for 37"
Taking the badge he pinned it in place and prepared for the events of the evening.
[Trallos' Quarters]
A chime softly played over and over. James stirred and humbled. "Computer, I'm on leave. What's that noise for?"
"You have received a message from Captain Kamar" the computer announced.
"What time is it?"
"Shipboard time is 0910."
James laid in bed for a moment getting his mind together. He had to remember that he was not in med school anymore. That was a long time ago. He shook his head. It won't matter, I'll still keep traditions. The tradition was, anytime a doctor lost a patient, after shift you buy a shot of the good stuff and drink one for the patient. He had four patients he had to take a shot for and the good stuff at the Starbase had a kick to it. If they were away he would have spaced the shots out one a day because of duty, but with a full Starbase medical facility, he as able to take care of it all at once for the good people they lost.
He laid there with the lights off. "Computer, read the message."
He listens to the message. "O.K., computer respond that I will be in attendance." The computer chimed in acknowledgement. "Well, at least I have until 2000. Now, which bag is it in?" James got out of bed, realizing that he hit the ground running. Everything was still in his bag. Now he was glad he had almost 12 hours to straighten his uniform. Good of day as any to make his quarters like home.
[Malik Bancroft's quarters]
Malik sat behind his desk in his office. He was a stickler for getting work done while eating his breakfast. Just then his computer terminal beeped and a message began flashing.
"Computer, display the message." said the counsellor.
As the computer decoded the message and displayed it on screen Malik began reading. 'A gathering of some sort at eight in the evening.' Finishing up his breakfast Malik returned his plate and cup to the replicator and sat back down at his desk. "Computer, inform the Captain that I will be in attendance."
The computer beeped and twilled in acknowledgement.
[Kevin's quarters]
"...you should have seen me Gondorf, I was lost for words," Kevin said to the plant in his hand "I mean, he's so different to Captain Zamos….by a great many light-years. For a start, he was chewing on a cigar....can you believe, a cigar of all things!"
At that point, the computer terminal alerted him to an incoming message.
"Computer, play the message," he said. After the message had been delivered, he sat there with raised eyebrows "Well, well, well...a mandatory meeting, and to be there in full dress uniform."
At this point, Kevin then began to wonder if he did have such a thing in his possession, it wasn't a certainty, after all, he wasn't often called to be at such formal occasions, he was more used to being in combat-ready clothing.
"Computer, acknowledge receipt of the message and reply that I'll be there," Kevin said. The computer replied and sent his acknowledgement.
Looking back at the plant he had in his hand he said: "very Curious" said Alice.
[Arianna's Quarters]
Rolling over in bed, she cursed as her computer woke her. "Computer play message", she growled. Upon hearing the message she tumbled out of the bed, "Computer send acknowledgement", Arianna said as the computer beeped a resounding reply...
Getting up she headed for the shower and thought of her last meeting with Frank. He had just kissed her and left her standing in the Arboretum. She was still wondering just what happened when her combadge chirped. "Augusfratt! What happened now!", she hollered, picking up the combadge and opening it up she heard laughter and whoops of joy over it. "Evans what in the name of Kahless is going on down there", she said through her teeth. "Chief, Evans here, you're invited to our little party boss", he said.
"Oh for god's sake Evans, have a good time. I have other plans!", she said and closed her combadge. Shaking her head she went back to fixing and getting ready for her days work and the evenings meet with Frank, but why dress uniforms?
[Elsewhere]
Deep in the computer core is where Chief resided, with no physical body or requirement for food and sleep, he did not need for quarters. So there he stayed, buried deep in the brain of the Pennsylvania, watching the data streams ebb and flow past him like a highway of information racing by. Somewhere a light flashed, attempting to gain his attention with its presence, as quickly as the light appeared Chief knew what it was there for. Being a part of the computer had its advantages, such as instant knowledge of any messages being sent to him and their content. Chief silenced the flashing alert and replied to the message all at once, with one easy 'thought'.
Captain Kamar had ordered a staff gathering in the observation lounge, scheduled for later on. Chief would be there of course, and other places if needed. Since he needed no time to prepare, Chief waited until the first person arrived before creating an avatar in the Observation lounge, after all, he didn't want to be too early.
