Final checkups

Posted on Tue Oct 15th, 2019 @ 10:33pm by Lieutenant Commander James Trallos MD & Lieutenant Tree Woods

Mission: Onboarding & Departure
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: 1300 Iota System

James stood at a lab station getting a blood sample ready for analysis. He looked at the stack of samples. He and his staff would be busy for a week going over all of these, but nearly everyone that did not get an exam at Starbase 11 was done. Just a couple people left from shift changes.

=/\="Lieutenant Woods, please report to Sickbay." =/\=

=/\= "On my way." =/\= Tree wasn't in a mood for any of this. She had more than enough work to do to concern herself with annoying physicals, which she guessed this was about. Still, she knew that according to regulation she had to go, and so she did. A few minutes later she walked in to sickbay.

"Ah Lieutenant, thanks for coming in so quickly. You are one of the last on my list for physicals that were missed on Starbase 11. Should only take a few minutes and then I can get you on your way." James said reaching out his hand.

She shook his hand with a grip firmer than one would expect from someone of her short stature. "Well, let's get this over with then." she offered with a smile she'd hoped was less tired than she felt as she got on the biobed.

James grabbed his PADD. "So, let's start off with the standard question every doctor asks. How do you feel today?" James asked as he started reviewing her chart and glancing at the master display on the biobed.

"I'm fi - " she started, but thought better of it. Shoulders slumped with a sigh. "Right shoulder's been acting up a bit lately, probably just slept wrong or something. Been having some headaches too, probably just stress. Been a lot going on."

"Thank you for being honest. Most people just say fine so they can get out. Can't blame them, visiting the doctor is rarely fun. Then they wait and it gets bad and then they see me again and it's much less pleasant." James began scanning her shoulder.

" Well, I can follow on the stress. Something about being flung across the Galaxy over the course of a couple days on a machine nobody really knows how it works can cause that. Any problems sleeping at night?" James asked and punched a note into his PADD.

"Not - .. Really? A bit maybe." Tree shrugged. "Can fall asleep ok, but wake up in the middle of the night after a few hours. Don't know why. Can usually fall asleep again and sleep until my alarm clock."

"That can happen. If it keeps going more than a couple weeks come back and see me on that." He said as he finished his scan of the shoulder. "Have you had any impact or over extension on your shoulder? Sports, accident, having to drag a passed out crewman to the brig?"

"Well, I train a lot. Low impact to high impact cardio, to full impact sparring. But normally aches from bruises only take a few days to go away." Tree mused.

James walked over and picked up an osteogenic stimulator and began to move it around her right shoulder. " Sometimes the body wants to take it's time, even if we don't like it or have the time for it. Your in good shape and nothing but this seems to be the problem at the moment." James said as he made another scan. "I know I grew a shape rounder trying to make the transfer over here from the Bajor. Shuttle food for a few days and minimal activity caught up to me in a hurry." James joked.

She smirked. "Yeah, shuttle food isn't always that healthy and there's no space to work out. I hate traveling by shuttle - I'm a creature of comforts, myself." Tree mused. "I suppose I'll take it easy on my shoulder for a bit and avoid full impact sparring for a while. Can I do other exercises?"

"Yeah, after a week it gets old real quick." James smiled the scans returned. "Absolutely you can do Other exercises. You had a couple microtears on your rotator. Nothing major. The regenerator should have done most of the work. Give it a day off and you should be good. I'd prefer you take two days off of full impact using that arm, but given how much exercise you seem to like to do, I'll be happy with a day."

"I'm find holding off on spar training for a few days. Plenty of other things I can do to keep in shape." Tree mused. God knew she had a lot of work on her plate and less time to do it in. "Thanks though."

"Or course. I'll just need a little blood but otherwise unless there's anything else you would like to go over, I think I'm done. Hoping it wasn't too big a pain for you." James said.

"Sure." Tree offered, holding out her arm and rolling up her sleeve.

James drew her blood quickly and gave it to his technician to run into the analyzer. "I think that's everything Lieutenant. Keep easy on that shoulder for the next couple days and it should be good to go. If you keep having some trouble with sleep, come back and see me and we can take another look and see if we can't help that." He said and reached out his hand.

His hand shook and a soft smile offered. "Thankd, Doc." she mused as she hopped off the bio bed, stretching a bit before heading off again. she had work to do.

James finished off a couple notes on his PADD as she left. He hopped she would take it easy on that shoulder. If not, she may end up back here for another treatment.
