[ON]

Cyrin made sure he had everything before he announced himself. PADD containing the duty roster he'd put together for Flight Control, check. PADD with a backup copy of the entire team's personnel files, check. Another PADD held his outlines for the training plans for the pilots, while yet another held the latest status reports from every system and shuttle under his department's purview, check. A bottle of Bajoran alvas wine he'd found in the replicator systems. Check. Cyrin tried not to be nervous about it, but he hoped he was prepared to meet the one person on the ship that didn't even need to try to get him to fidget.

Chime

He barely managed to touch the door-panel to let the Major know he had arrived, two minutes to spare for their meeting.

[First Officers Quarters/Office]

Sitting behind her desk, she sighed heavily as he buzzer sounded first quietly to herself "I have gotta see the Captain about getting me a proper office, *the louder* ENTER" In walked Xanth the over-eager new CoS, he had promise but she saw it from a soldiers view, like him she too was new to ship command duty.

"Hello, Major," Cyrin made sure the bottle of Bajoran wine was held out first, as he came in and approached. "I hope you don't mind - I took the liberties of reading your file, and, I hope you like it." He hoped she didn't think he was trying to bribe her...though then again, maybe he was. Or, at least, building up some brownie points ahead of time. "The computer said this one is popular on Bajor."

*taking the offered bottle oO He wants something Oo she thought to herself oO he is also trying too hard Oo she added to her thoughts, but verbally she "thank you, Lieutenant, please take a seat" she said putting the bottle on the table, as she sat down, she placed both hands on the desk and gave him a cautious look as he mentioned reading her file.

"Thank you, Major." Cyrin settled down and jumped right into the reports on his department. "I'm glad to tell you, all of the flight control has reported for medical checks with Doc Trallos, all their records are up to date." Even he and Yarinna had done so. "So far things are running pretty smooth: no real problems to report, no difficulties from the team."

*smiling* "Okay Lieutenant, you here for something, so come on what is it?" she asked with no hint of anger in her tone, she actually found his eagerness amusing.

"Okay, right." Cyrin swapped PADDs to the one that contained his plans. He referenced it occasionally as he laid out the details. "I put together the duty roster and training schedule. You'll see here..." Quickly and efficiently, the Trill explained his idea: a massive amount of training, cross-training, and rotating responsibilities. Not only was he wanting to make sure the full FC Departments were qualified to pilot the ship and all the support craft, but maintenance training was included too. Beyond that, he had set up having his team train with other departments too, much as Commander Kamar wanted; there'd be training for first aid, sensor operations, shifts with OPS and Engineering...Altogether it was way too much, and they'd be lucky if no one snapped after the first week.

She held out her hand for the Padd as she held it, she looked at it "Interesting, you might want to structure the training in such a way as not to overly stress the Fleet Officers, the marines on the ship are more used to tough conditions" she said.

"You think it's too much maybe?" Cyrin looked concerned. He meant well, and maybe he had enough energy to keep up with such a schedule but it was doubtful. "You think I should switch things up? Maybe we could do without the rotations into gel-pack maintenance..."

taking the Padd "I am not against cross-departmental training, in fact, I have given our CMO permission to have some of his people train with Security and what marines we have on the ship, ready for proposed SAR and QRT units, which we will need as we progress deeper into the quadrant, so cross-training is authorised. Now for the others where piloting is concerned, have all crew do as much training in the shuttles as possible working around their shifts, but leave the fighter to the fighter pilot, as a rule, all personnel have some basic shuttle flight training, but I want them to be one-hundred per cent efficient on flying not eighty *pauses* Leave the advanced maintenance to Engineering, but I am not above those to be involved to have them some basic emergency repair training, with the First Aid, speak to Doctor Trallos, but with him training his staff to work with proposed teams such First Aid will be pointless, but the experience would do people some good" she paused. "what else is there?" She asked looking at the Padd.

As the Major talked, Cyrin worked furiously on one of his other PADDs, made the notations for changes as she listed them out. He nodded along and typed away, and the duty roster began to shrink further. Cyrin definitely seemed pleased at the idea of trying to get all of the crew certified to pilot their auxiliary craft eventually. A lot of people let their flight qualifications expire after the Academy, or weren't even trained in the first place like many of the enlisted personnel; having as close to everyone ready to fly would be an impressive project! "Oh, one-hundred per cent understood, Major," he chuckled. As the final touches were made in the end they had cut back or restructured nearly half of what he'd walked in with. It took the young officer a moment to check through it all one more time, "I think that's it, Major. Except for one more thing."

This notation was at the bottom of his notes, not contained in the schedule drafts he'd given the XO, and he felt deserved the importance of going last when they could readjust their focus. "I know it has only been a couple of days, sir, but I wanted to put in an official commendation for Lieutenant Commander Hawkins. If it wasn't for all her hard work before we left, and how big of help she has been since I came on board, I don't think Flight Control would be where it's at right now. She's a hard worker, a great leader, and I wanted to make sure you were made aware of her efforts." This was his first time putting forward anything like this, his first time being in a position where he could put in a positive citation, and it felt good to recognise the woman who had helped make sure their department was so effective already.

"That is magnanimous of you, I will note it down, so is there anything else you need to draw my attention to or on any other matter that may be troubling you?" she asked.

"Mmm." Cyrin considered for a moment, then shook his head. The doubts he was dealing with he didn't want to bring up now, didn't want there to be any question if he would be able to do his duty. He'd made his choice when accepting this mission, years away from home with no easy way back, and now he'd have to stick to it. "No, I think that's all, Major."

"Excellent, if there is any further items in future, do not hesitate to come and speak to me about them first, okay?" Griffiths asks.

"Will do." Cyrin stood and nodded his thanks. "And I appreciate the help." The Trill hesitated, just a moment, but it was there. He debated with himself, told himself the Major Griffiths didn't seem anything like Commander Henderson on the Berlin, that she'd given him no reason to think she was anything other than professional and supportive. In the end he still kept his thoughts to himself; it might take him a while to get over his own mistrust. "Thank you, Major," Cyrin made himself sound friendly, "Permission to be dismissed?"

"Permission granted Lieutenant" Griffiths responded and watched Xanth stand and leaver her office, when the doors closed she gathered up the mugs and returned them to the reclimator and returned to catching up on her correspondence.
