Captain Taggart stepped up to the dais with Major Griffiths and Lieutenant Trallos flanking him on each side. The stars streaked by as they travelled at a low warp speed away from Ketram. He cleared his throat before speaking to the gathered crewmembers, "Good afternoon Officers and Crew of the USS Pennsylvania, it is both a sad and joyous occasion that brings us together today. Our ship has been in the Delta Quadrant for about a year now, since leaving Starbase 13, Major Griffiths has been XO and an excellent leader. She has been steadfast and dependable and has been instrumental in my transition to Commanding Officer. It is my pleasure to announce she has been selected for Advanced Command Training, sadly this will require that she leaves Pennsylvania. Please take a moment and give the Major a round of applause for thanks for all of her hard work."

A few moments later after the applause died down he spoke again, "Major Griffiths, as a token of appreciation from the USS Pennsylvania I give you two gifts. The first is a Letter of Appreciation that will go in your permanent Service Record due to your exemplary performance as a Ship's Officer. The Second gift I give you is a replica of the USS Pennsylvania made from the leftover 76 from your last away mission." Taggart picked up the two gifts and handed them to the Major.

Taken aback a little as she blushed as the applause died down she stepped forward and whispered "I thought it would be a quiet departure Captain!" She said with a smile and took the statuette and loud enough for the whole lounge to hear her "thank you, Captain, I am honoured by this gift and I am at a loss for words" she said and went silent.

"I believe in giving honour where it is due Major," the Captain replied.

Captain Taggart then turned to Lieutenant Trallos, "Lieutenant Trallos, you've been aboard Pennsylvania since her arrival in the Delta Quadrant. You have healed her sick and provided exemplary leadership at every course. Your unflappable attitude and courage have not gone unnoticed, It is with great pleasure that I hereby promote you to Lieutenant Commander, and name you as the Executive Officer of the USS Pennsylvania." He turned and saluted the doctor before pinning the new pips onto his collar. "Congratulations Lieutenant Commander Trallos."

Knowing this was going to happen Naomi smiled and applauded with the rest of the room, she could not be happier for James, she felt that he deserved this and would be a much better First Officer, but she knew it would not be easy for him, up until now his whole life he had to be friendly to people as he was a Doctor, now he would have to bash some heads when needed.

The doctor returned his salute as he stood at attention. "Thank you, sir." It was a lot of responsibility, and he was a little nervous but knew the ship and him would get through it.

"You'll do fine Commander Trallos," the Captain said as he shook his head. Turning to face the crowd he spoke once more, "Please come bid farewell and following seas to the Major, and congratulate Lieutenant Commander Trallos. There is food and drink in the back, please stay and celebrate the hard work and dedication of these two officers."

Stepping closer to Jim and Whispering in his ear "well Jim the day's of you being someone's friend is gone, but congratulations on the promotion and new position" she finished by tapping him on his shoulder.

He turned and smiled at her the offered her his hand. "Thanks, Naomi. I hope your next endeavours bring you happiness and fulfilment."

Taking the offered hand she gave a strong and firm return handshake and a smile "try not to break too many hearts" she said quietly into Trallos's ear as the applause covered any sound she might have made. Then she stepped back and faced forward feeling self-conscious at the applause, she knew it was also for James too.

He chuckled a little and leaned to her. "Take care of yourself, Naomi. Maybe I'll see you around on Iota?" He said and nodded to the crew with a smile.

She looked at Jame from the corner of her eye oO oh if only that were true Oo she thought to herself.

"Good luck with your future endeavours Major, you're going to make one hell of a Commander someday. It was an honour to serve with you." Shri'Rao said offering her hand.

“I’m afraid I haven’t had time to get to know you, Major,” Camille said as she approached the group. “But I wish you the best. And I look forward to working closer to you, Commander,” she said, having turned to face Trallos. She raised her glass of synthehol champagne to both of them before taking a sip.

Looking at the Officer and smiling "and you doctor, but I do not know what future has for me, but it will not be in the Delta Quadrant, best of luck on your tour" Griffith's said.


Vespa Kale was next to bridge the gap between herself and Naomi, an awkward silence hung for a moment before she offered her a pair of smiles. "I... don't know the proper way to say this, since it's something you hope never to have to say but... Thank you." she paused, "Thank you for coming to..."

"... save me. To the Dalacari, life is the most important thing in the universe. So, thank you. It might not have been you to break me out, but you were..."

"... ready to tear that place apart for me. So, truly, thank you."

Looking at Kale and offering her hand in turn to each of the Dalacari "it was my honour Lieutenant, but I would have done it for any of the crew on the Penn, regardless of what impression they had on the actions of myself at a certain point" she said glancing over at Addie, Naomi was well aware that she had not endeared herself to the Counsellor she returned her attention to Kale "if you will excuse me, Lieutenant, I have to go try to mend a gap with the Counsellor, but it was an honour to know both of you even if it was for a short time" she added.

Vespa was so caught up in the moment she didn't even opt to correct Naomi. "Good luck with your studies. I'd say I know a few good books on study techniques, but I'm pretty sure you got this in the bag." she complimented and gave Naomi's hands a gentle squeeze.

"See you around." Dalacari hated saying goodbye. Okay, THIS Dalacari hated saying goodbye.

" See you around" Naomi responded with a nod Naomi walks over to Addie who currently had her back to her talking to someone else "Lieutenant Hart!" she spoke as she approached close to the Counsellor.

Captain Taggart watched the Major speaking with various officers as she made her way around the room.

Shri'Rao made her way over to Naomi. "Congratulations Major, it has been a pleasure working with you. I wish you luck at advanced command school. I understand it's a quite difficult course. Shri'Rao said.

After her interaction with Hart Naomi was taking a moment alone among the gathered when the Security Chief approached and offered her some congratulations, taking the congratulations "and I, you Lieutenant, keep an eye on the shadows Lieutenant for the enemy moves when you are not looking and always remember understanding is a three-edged blade, Your side, their side and the truth" Naomi said to the Security Chief.

"I will indeed Major," Shri'Rao said Shri'Rao took her hand and shook it as humans did.

Naomi shook the Security Officers hand and with a smile "if you will excuse me I have to go and complete my packing" she said and moved off and exited the room making her way to her quarters.
