Close call

Mission:
Exploring the unknown
Location: Sickbay
James looked over at the monitor giving all the displays of Lieutenant Hart. She was stabilizing but things were still far from her baseline, at least as neurological function goes. Her brain wave pattern was still all over the place. Physically, she was getting closer to baseline, which made him feel a little better, but he was far from comfortable with it.
The doctor shook his head. This would not do. For some odd reason, putting the good counselor under had caused complications that no one else was experiencing. Her wave activity was almost like she was awake, but not. "Maybe if you're awake you will have more control over what is going on up there." He said to himself. If sedation caused the issues, maybe being alert would get her back to a closer normal. Then he could find out what she was sensing. "Norepinephrine." Hensaid to his nurse who then handed him one of the hypos from a tray. He pressed the hypo to the Lieutenant's neck and a small hiss escaped.
"Lieutenant Hart, it's Doctor Trallos. Are you with me Addie?" He asked.
There were voices. So many voices. She couldn't quite hear what they were trying to say, but they were there. "Addie..." the single word broke through everything else.
'Shut up or I'll shut you up woman!' the voice roared from somewhere else. She could hear it louder than her own name, then it faded.
'No, that's not how you do it! Are you stupid? You're supposed to be an officer, hell, I know cadets with more smarts than you. Get out of my way, idiot!' Again, the singular voice pushed forward, then faded again.
"Addie." Again, the voice, it felt familiar, it didn't feel angry, it felt... It felt close, familiar. It felt comforting.
"Don't make her cry," Addie whispered, raising her hands to her ears, trying to block out the rest of the sounds.
James put his hand on her shoulder gently. "Addie, it's Doctor Trallos. You're in sickbay. The current ship time is 1156. Come on back to me Counsellor." The doctor said softly. "I need you to tell me what's going on. What are you feeling?" The doctor looked at his monitors and frowned. Her Theta brain waves were going all over but were much higher then normal. Like she is half asleep or in a dreamlike state. "Theta waves went down after a dose. Give me a another quarter dose of Norepinephrine. Maybe we can wake her out of this." He said and administered the hypo.
She could feel the rush as the drugs hit her system. Almost instantly her eyes were wide open and she sat upright on the biobed, hand held over her heart, a sudden gasp, a deep breath as she looked around wide eyed. There was so much noise, so many voices, she couldn't having trouble focusing.
Finally, her wild eyed gaze moved toward the Doctor. "I know you..." she murmured, her voice filled with confusion. "Doctor... Doctor..." She drew in a breath that almost sounded pained. "Crewman Kimber said you have a nice ass..." she winced, not realising what she said but instead pressing her fingertips to her temples before moving her hand back to her chest, pressing over her heart. "Why am I in sickbay?" she finally asked, looking around, clearly confused.
The doctor smiled. "Well I do try to take care of myself. Don't worry Addie, we share the same ethics code so it won't get out." He looked at her monitor. Physically she was improving quickly with the extra stimulant, but her brain waves were still outside of normal. "To answer your question about why, I only have a partial answer. Something in the nebula is causing people, mostly those with telepathic abilities to get hostile. You had a very severe episode on the bridge and the Major have you a hypo of Anesthezine to put you under. She felt you were becoming a danger to yourself and others."
The doctor read the monitor. "You are getting hit pretty hard by whatever is going on. I'm trying to figure this out but I could use your help. How are you feeling?" He asked, trying to put a soothing hand on her shoulder to help her lay down.
Addie lay back, closing her eyes again, trying to block out the voices, trying to focus just on the doctor. There was something else, another voice, another sense. A calmness amid the chaos. Major Griffiths! With a start everything that had happened on the bridge rushed back to her, sending her heart racing. That was why she was in sickbay, Griffiths tried to kill her. Even Lieutenant Kale thought Griffiths had tried to kill her. The surge of anger washed through her, making her blood boil as she sat upright again. "I'm feeling better, thank you Doctor," she said quietly. "I, I think I'd like a glass of water if that's possible?" She drew in a deep breath, forcing herself to calm. Maybe the doctor was on Griffith's side. Maybe the Doctor wanted her dead too. She needed to choose her actions carefully.
The doctor gently caught her shoulders and gave her a reassuring smile. "Your brainwaves are saying you're not quite as better as I would like." He said slowly lowering her back down. "Focus on slowing your breathing some. I think water would be a good idea." He nodded to his nurse who left to go get some. James patted her shoulder. "The adrenaline I gave you will make you feel cold and excited. I'll make things a little warming for you. That should help relax you." He said and moved to the foot of the bed and began to fuss with the temperature control.
As he was distracted, Addie's hand slipped out, grabbing the hypospray from the side table, sliding it under the pillow before she nodded slightly, watching him carefully, biding her time. As she waited, she cast another quick glance around sickbay, taking in the people around them, watching movements. No one seemed to be paying any attention to them at all, that was definitely going to make things easier.
The doctor finished his adjustments and stood next to her and checked her monitors. "How does that feel? Any more comfortable?" He asked with a puzzled look on his face. Her heart rate had elevated and cortisal levels were up. Not something he normally associated with Norepinephrine in the amount given.
He was distracted, his back to her as he studied a PaDD he had picked up from the end of her bed. Addie moved carefully, hand creeping under the pillow, wrapping firmly around the hypospray before pulling it out, using a finger and thumb to dial up a strong dose of the sedative. She inched toward the end of the biobed, leaning foward and pressing the hypo to his neck and administered the dose, immediately sliding the hypospray under the cover of the biobed as she waited the few moments for the drug to become effective.
The drug worked fast but adrenaline was a funny thing in that it could make time feel like it was slow. He could think faster but that was all. The doctor registered the hiss as an injection and figured out the drug and knew he was going under. oO Well, that answers why things were off. Oo was his final thought before he collapsed in a heap next to the bed.
Addie watched as he crumpled then pulled the blanket up, screaming loudly, deliberately to draw attention! "Doctor Trallos!" her voice rose above every other sound in sickbay. "Doctor!" She slid out of the bed, taking a few steps toward where his body lay at the same time sickbay became a hive of activity with everyone rushing toward her and crowding around them.
"What happened?" she heard a voice demand from within the chaos.
"I don't know... he... I..." Addie feigned uncertainty. "He was asking me questions and then he just collapsed," she said as she inched away from them, back toward the biobed, hand sliding under the covers to pull out the hypospray, slipping it into her pocket while no one else was paying attention.
Once she was certain that the attention was firmly on the doctor, Addie slipped quietly out of sickbay and into the corridor. She wasn't sure how long she had until they realised she was gone, she would have to move quickly if she wanted to get to Griffiths before she got caught.
One way or another, the Marine was going to pay for trying to kill her. Addie intended to make very sure of that.
