Sins of the Present

Posted on Wed Feb 24th, 2021 @ 12:41pm by Lieutenant JG Sinn Rintan & Captain Dirk Taggart

Mission: Transitions
Location: USS Pennsylvania

Sinn was glad to be back. While he had not been assigned to the Penn long before he was spooled up for a dark mission he had missed the crew and the Intelligence offices that they had onboard. As he made his transfer back he thought it would be wise to make his way to the bridge and let Cap know he was back. He was on his way to the Ready Room and saw a couple of staff he knew from his last posting and greeted them. He finally made it outside the Ready Room when he his the door chime.

"Enter," Dirk said as he looked up from his cup of coffee, it was a vice but not as bad as the cigars he had found stashed around the ready room. He didn't even know they made those anymore. Captain Taggart stood to greet the man that entered. "Hello Lieutenant, how can I help you?"

As Sinn stride through the door it was the voice that caught him off guard and then to see someone else in Kamar's office was icing on the cake. He froze mid-stride taking in the stranger in front of him. "Your not Captain Kamar.". He meant to say in his head but it had exited his mouth.

"That is correct, Captain Kamar has been relieved of command and I have replaced him. I'm Captain Taggart, Is there something I can help you with Lieutenant?" he said as he stood to face the Lieutenant.

Sinn stood there processing the news and wondering how he had not caught wind of this before coming onboard. "Well I am Sin Rintan and I was Chief of Intel before be called away on a mission. I am back to assume my roll.". He said with a still perplexed look on his face.

"As a former Security Officer, I will not ask details and will assume it was a need to know mission, and at present I do not need to know," he said with a smile. "Please come in and have a seat, Lieutenant Rintan. Do not worry about your position it is waiting for you to resume it."

Sinn did just that. "That is good to hear. So a started out as a Security officer? How much action did you see during the Dominion Occupation?"

"I saw a fair bit, nothing I really want to talk about. My last duty station was running the security department for foreign dignitaries in San Francisco. You meet alot of people and creatures doing that. There is alot of crossover there with the intelligence community as well. Before that I was a First Officer, I missed space and requested the first ship I could get. Now I'm here, what about you Mr. Rintan? How did you get here?"

"That's a long story. To keep it short I started the War on the wrong side of things. I fought with the Order for two years till I truly saw that this was not an alliance with the Domminion but an occupation. So I went AWOL and joined the CLF. Found myself fighting along the side of both the Federation and Klingon Empire as we worked to liberate my home. While on a mission I was captured and tortured for over a month." He paused as some of his past was hard even now to talk about. "I was rescued by the crew of the USS Shepherd. During the debrief by Intel I was recurited to become and asset. Shortly there after I was granted a commission and was assigned to 332 for a couple years before moving here last year as its Chief of Intel." He finished and looked to see what kind of response all of this would have on his new boss.

Dirk nodded in acknowledgement as he listened to Rintan speak. "It seems you've had quite the journey getting here, to this point. I'm glad to have you aboard and I'm quite certain your experience will add value to the officers Corp. In the meantime is there anything you feel I need to be aware?"

Sinn thought about it for a while. "Not that I can think of. I am just looking to get settled back in and start looking over my staff and if anything comes up I will make sure to let you know." He finished that thought and then decided to spin it back. "Question is, anything you need from me straight away?"

"Not at the moment, I'm just getting settled in myself. I will leave you to your duties. I will most likely have a meeting with you in a few days. I'd like to discuss some of the latest threat vectors once we get underway. If there is nothing else Lieutenant Rintan, Welcome Aboard," the captain said extending his hand to shake it.

"Glad to be back." Sinn said as he took the offered hand. After a pause he turned and headed for his office to see how much it had changed while he was gone.
