Security Inspection

Taggart entered the security space, and felt at home. His time on starships had mostly been spent in security as a security officer. He saw the Chief and recognized her because of her Andorian features, though he was unsure how to pronounce her name. "Chief, thank you for taking the time to meet me."

"Captain Taggart, it is an honor to meet you. I am Lieutenant Shri'Rao Sh'veqan(pronounced Shree'Rao Sh'vekan)

Shri'Rao extended her hand in friendship. her antennae facing forward as if probing the new Captain.

"Welcome aboard Sir". Shri'Rao added.

"Thank you Lieutenant Sh'veqan, it is a pleasure to be here," he said as he shook her hand. "So how are things here in the Security Department?"

"All personnel are trained and all equipment is accounted for. We have been on security alert two since the catapult was apparently sabotaged. I have a squad rotating in an out of engineering as that is where we are weakest at the moment. That is subject of course to any new standing orders you may have, Sir." Shri'Rao said.

Shri'Rao took stock of the new Captain.

"Also we have a fully trained and equipped SART and tactical response team for any situation that they are needed. WE have the new TR-20 Tactical Projectile rifles and pulse compression Phaser rifles when needed. Officially this ship is fully mission capable even with our engine difficulties. Tactical systems are fully operational. We have a full compliment of weapons, Sir." Shri'Rao added.

"There was some incorrect rumors being spread about. I actually sat through several intelligence briefings en route here. A small group of ships destined for this quadrant carrying passengers and colonists suffered an accident as they entered the Catapult. Starfleet shut down the Catapult and is still investigating the cause of the accident," Dirk explained.

"That is what you were told, Sir. So how can I be of service to you Captain?" Shri'Rao asked.

"I am just here for a routine inspection, when is the last time the weapons systems were tested and aligned?"

"After repairs and refit at base less than four days ago. We determined that all tactical systems are fully operational, only the engines specifically the warp drive is impaired." Shri'Rao said.

"Thank you Lieutenant, is there anything you feel I should be concerned about or made aware of?" Dirk asked inquisitively.

The ship has been on security alert 2 since we left the base, this is for many reasons but most important might be one of sabotage. I assume you read the previous captain's logs?

"I have read them, for such an over cautious man, he flew into two separate ambushes. We can stand down from the Alert 2 Ms. Sh'veqan. I don't believe we have internal saboteurs. Is there anything else you'd like to discuss, before beginning your shore leave?"

"Shore leave Captain? Am I going somewhere?" Shri'Rao asked nonplussed.

"Lieutenant, we are in orbit above Tabula Rasa. I authorized 48 hour of shore leave while I review and prepare to begin our explorations again," he explained.

"I thought that was for non essential personnel Captain." Shri'Rao countered.

"Once we are finished you will be free to enjoy some time as long as you are ready to launch when the time comes. Is there anything else we need to discuss before I move along?" The Captain asked.

"No Sir." Shri'Rao replied.
