Posted on Mon Oct 26th, 2020 @ 5:00am by Lieutenant Shri'Rao Sh'veqan

Mission: Survival of the fittest
Location: Counsellors office
Timeline: 239410.18

Shri'Rao had been ordered to go see the new counsellor for a psychological exam. The last time this happens she had been taken off duty for a week.

She made an appointment for the eighteenth and went in.

"Hello I am Lieutenant Shri'Rao Sh'veqan, I have an appointment with ensign Doe" Shri'Rao said.

Jane smiled warmly as she motioned for the lovely Andorian woman to enter. "That would be I, Lieutenant. You may call me Jane if you like. Please come in and make yourself comfortable."

Inside the walls were draped in a deep soothing blue that slightly shimmered in the low light of lanterns that had been hung and placed around the room. Their soft glow like a warm blanket to the soul. The drappery hid the walls and the posters she'd hung as well as the replicator, and the door to her private quarters. The soft but not overbearing scent of honeysuckle and lavender with a breath of mint played in the air. the musical harmony of falling water gently singing as it played over a pond with shallow rocks from its fountin on the desk which had been been pushed to the far side of the room to open the limited space up a bit. The couch was a black one now. Some of the colorful pillows from before where missing or replaced. Then, tucked against the furthest wall to the left was a couple of over stuffed plush chairs flanking a table that was set for tea it looked like. Gone was her coffee table for now. Her cabinet shed moved into her private quarters.

Shri'Rao came in and smoothed out her skirt under her crossing her legs demurely.

"Thank you, shall we get started"? Shri'Rao said her anttenae pointing forward towards the counsellor..

"Yes of course..first off is there anything I can get you to drink?" Jane asked. "Then you can let me know how are things going with you? Alot has happened in this last month. I'd like to know how your coping with the recent events." Jane had headed towards the replicator to get herself a cup of warm tea as she spoke.

"No thank you on the beverage".

Shri'rao's antennae wavered a bit.

"How have I been? Well that is one for the record books. I have been conducting several investigations into what happened with the catapult and the damage to the Penn. I have had to write several condolence letters , write evaluations, and recover from smoke inhillation. I don't have too much of a problem with being stuck in the delta quadrant though, my family is the Penn. Sometimes I feel like I know too much and other times I feel like I don't know enough. I know that doesn't sound rational but it is true. I don't eat well, nor do I sleep well. I do get plenty of exercise though. I am working through the trauma of what happened by throwing myself into work in an attempt to understand what happened." Shri'Rao started.

Jane listened as she sipped her tea then took a seat on the other chair. "Actually it all sounds very rational to me. Thank you for being so open with me. This might seem a trivial question in comparison to everything however I'm curious on if you can walk me through a typical work day for you?" Jane asked politely.

"I wake up at four AM relative and take a run. by Five I am generally showered and dressed heading to the officers mess where I eat and review security concerns on my PADD. By 5:30 AM I am on my way to the bridge to relive gamma shift.
I work on the bridge for the first four hours of my shift, in that time I brief the other senior officers at the morning briefing and work on the duty schedule for that day depending on whatever security concerns there are. At 10 AM I head down to the security office and brief the team for upcoming events such as personnel transfers, repairs or dignitary visits. At noon I head down to the brig to feed any prisoners lunch and check on them to make sure there are no suicides. I like to have lunch with the prisoners so I can chat with them and try to rehabilitate them. at 1300 I head to the holo deck for target practice and other weapons training usually bladed weapons. at 1400 I go in for martial arts training. At 1500, I am technically off duty so I head down to the hairdressers and have my nails done. all that weapons training and martial arts wrecks havock with my nails. Once I have indulged in my ritualistic pampering, I head down to the my office and check in then have dinner, unless of course I'm on a date. Im usually in bed by 1900." Shri'Rao said.

"That's an impressive schedule. I'm impressed. What would you say is your favorite part of your day?" Jane asked curiously.

"My schedule dosnt include attacks special assignment or off the hip training I need to perform at intervals. Whats my favorite part of the day? My morning run is. It's the first thing I do in the morning and it usually helps me get centered and focused." Shri'Rao said.

"I enjoy running too. Why is it your not wafting or sleeping well? If you don't mind my asking." Jane had an idea about the why's but didn't want to make assumptions.

"I think its the stress of our current situation and all the friends we lost. Shri'Rao said.

"Yes of course. Would you like to talk about it?" Jane asked tenderly. Understanding the pain of losing good friends was certainly something she could relate to.

"I don't know what to say, whats done is done. There was nothing I could do to change it. I know that probably sounds fatalistic but it's how I feel about it." Shri'Rao replied.

"Sounds like a rather healthy way of rationalizing it. Actually." Jane smiled warmly. "Well I know that you are rather busy. So I won't take up any more of your time. Should you need anything please feel free to contact me at anytime."

"Thank you for you're time councillor" Shri'Rao said.
