Mission:
Season Two - Incidentals
Location: Medical
Frank walked to Doc Trallos' office in Medical. He hadn't really had time to talk with his friend with everything going on the last few days. He hoped Doc had been able to get some rest with most of the patients released and the worst cases transferred to the station. He entered into Medical and was shocked at how clean everything was once more. The scenes of organized chaos post attack were gone and it was once more a quiet, clean area. Frank tapped on The Doc's door before stepping in, "Hey Doc, how are ya?"
"Hhmm?" James mumbled and the looked up from his terminal screen. He didn't realize anyone had entered the medical bay. He was trying to finish off an never ending pile of paperwork. The bright side was that there would be an end as the worst were no longer in his care and at full facilities. He looked up and saw the Captain. "Oh, sorry Captain. I didn't hear you come in. Come on in and have a seat." He offered and moved a couple padds around to clear him some space.
Frank took the offered seat, he moaned slightly as he sat, "Don't get old Doc its hell on the joints," he said with a grin. "I just wanted to come by and see how you were you doing?"
"You know Captain, I got an old mountain cure my grandmother used for her arthritis." He said and opened a drawer and lifted a bottle into view. "It's a temporary fix, but all natural. Ya ever need some you know where its at." He chuckled. "And we're doing ok here. One of my young nurses, fresh out of the academy I believe is having a hard time with all this, but everyone else is getting by. The first month after is the hardest for everyone."
"You're not dipping into grandma's cure too much are you Doc? You know i appreciate a good drink, but I don't want to see you abuse it," Frank asked concerned for his friend.
"Never on company time." The doctor said putting it back. "I will admit, I haven't been sleeping well at night. Grandma's cure helps, but not enough for sleep to come. How are you holding up?" He asked. It had been a rough go for everyone and the Captain had the weight of the crew on his shoulders. He had concerns for him as well.
"I'm holding up, I recorded the last of the condolence messages and sent them to Iota Station, so hopefully they will reach their respective family members eventually. I've also been spe di g every free second with Arianna and Hannah, they've helped jeep me grounded. Times like this make me think of June, my first wife. I shut down after she passed away, I did my job and that was it. I became a grouchy asshole that no one wanted around. It took meeting someone more stubborn than me to bring me back around," Frank said sadly.
The doctor laughed. "I have to agree with you there, although you made a fine choice in a woman, just remember, she was too stubborn to see me on her own and nearly died. Second, she was also too stubborn to die, so you're going to have her around a long time." He drank a swig of coffee. "How's Miss Hannah doing through all this?"
"Hannah was pretty frightened, but she knew Arianna and I were doing everything we could to protect her. She is finally sleeping normally again, she had nightmares the first few days afterwards. I am getting her over to the Counselor next week. Have you met Ensign Doe yet?" Frank asked.
"She has been through a lot." James commented. "Counselor's would be a good option, but she seems pretty resilient and with you and Arriana, she is in good hands. And yes, I met with Ensign Doe this morning. Discussing my sleeping issues. "
Frank nodded, "If you ever need to talk, you can always look me up. As soon as things calm down we need to get another poker game together."
"Thanks, Frank. I will, and the same goes for you. I know getting back to poker will be a nice thing to get back to. Amazing how much you end up missing the little things." The doctor answered.
"We will get a game scheduled soon, Doc. I need to move along i have a meeting with the Major about some testing tomorrow on ships systems. I'll see ya later," Frank said as he stood up.
"Take care Captain. Thanks for swinging by. Going to hold you to that poker game." The doctor said as he watched the Captain walk away. He sighed a little as he realized he still had a mountain of charts to get back to. "Duty calls.' He said and went back to the terminal.
