Mission:
Season Two - Incidentals
Location: Kamar Quarters
Timeline: 4 days prior to arrival at Iota Station
ON:
James walked down the corridor with his medical bag. It had been what felt like a lifetime ago since he had last walked across this deck. The last time, Arriana needed to talk. This time he was here to see her again, this time not only as a possible therapist, but as her physician. He had held her in sickbay for 48 hours and released her to quarters after.
Pressing the door chime he sighed a little to himself. The combat aftermath had taken its toll on all the crew. He prayed that soon, the next time down here would be for poker and her tacos. They were good times then.
"Come in James. I know its you," she said as the door opened allowing him to come in. "What brings you to our humble abode James?"she asked. It was sad that she could not make his favorite dish.....tacos.
James entered the quarters and gave her a smile. "Hello Arianna. How's my favorite patient today?" He asked walking over and setting his bag down.
"Alive, thanks to you. Once in a while I get a twinge of pain. Not to bad but it reminds me that it is there," Arianna said, getting James a cold iced tea.
He smiled. "Thank you and you're welcome. Also thank all those Klingon redundancies you have along with that stubbornness to go with it." He took a drink of the tea. "You had me worried for a little bit, I'm not going to lie. It was touch and go for the first half-hour of surgery."
"I still don't remember what nailed me, or how, but I do know it would not stay closed. All it did was ooze blood even after I used the dermal regenerator. I don't understand what it was that caused it," she said sipping her tea.
"Well, the oozed blood had a lot to do with the internal bleeding you had. After the dermal regenerator, was most likely due to volume. I didn't find any shrapnel inside you, so whatever got you came in and out." The doctor said taking a drink of tea. "I admit, part of me was worried I wouldn't get your tacos again." He said jokingly and laughed.
"Well aren't you lucky, I survived and ....." she walked inti the tiny kitchen area and came back with a tray of her wonderful tacos, "As you can see, I prepared them just for you," Arianna said laughing at James.
James grinned. "It's a good thing Frank married you first." He grinned and took a taco and began to munch. "It gets out you can cook, half the crew would have been lined up at your door." His eyes opened up. "Oh that reminds me. I need to check your wound one more time and make sure you're still on track."
"Oh don't be silly James, I can't cook at all unless I have the recipes, and a replicator. As far as the wounds go," she said lifting her blouse so James to check her injuries. "Satisfied that I am on track?" Arianna said grinning.
He smirked at her comment but said nothing while examining the wound that was healing nicely. "Something to be said about being part Klingon. You're a week ahead of where I would be." He picked up his medical bag and began rummaging through it. "I know you're itching to get back into engineering, but I want at least another 24 hours of rest in your quarters." He looked up. "What's your take on Romulan ale?"
"Something that should never be served at social functions. It has quite a kick. Personally, love it" she said laughing.
The doctor smiled. "Well, this isn't Romulan Ale, but its the next best thing. Earths equivalent." He said and placed a small jar of clear liquid on the table. "Since you have been a good patient, I figured the best way to keep you in quarters for another 24 hours would be to bribe you. This is good old Mountain medicine right here and a very old family recipe. Had to make this myself, replicator can't make it. It goes by the name of Moonshine, but where I'm from it just goes by Corn Liquor. Also, just like Romulan Ale, it is illegal on Earth, so you didn't get it from me. Frank will know though, so just remember to share." He said with a smile.
"Moonshine? I have heard that it has a wicked kick to it. I will be sure to share it with Frank. Um.....care for some 12 year old Scotch? I always have a bottle sitting around. Frank loves the stuff. He says it's smooth," Arianna said chuckling.
James laughed. "Yeah, this old moonshine is not smooth." He said with a laugh. "Id love some. But am going to make some more rounds so I probably shouldn't. I wouldn't say no though if we get to have another poker night." He mentioned as he grabbed another taco.
"Fine then, I will save it for then. When are you guys going to have another poker night? Soon I hope," Arianna said as Hannah came sliding from her room.
The doctor smiled. "Hopefully soon, once the ship is up and running and Frank can spare an extra moment." James looked over at the girl who rushed in. "Why hello Miss Hannah, how are you today ma'am?" He asked, letting his southern mountain accent go thick for the girls entertainment.
"Mommy Arianna, can I play with Suzies tribble? She has one, please can I? Oh..... hi uncle James...." Hannah said looking at Arianna...
James smirked. "Well, looks like I should probably head out and make the rounds. I'd pick the fuzzy critter that has a soothing noise as well. I like to think that's me sometimes in medical. Although, most probably think its opposite when they see me there." He laughed as he stood up.
Again, thank you James," Arianna said looking at Hannah. "Yes Hannah, you may go but be home for dinner young lady ok?"
"Whoopie!! Yay!!!.........thankyou momma Arianna," Hannah squealed and raced out of their quarters.
Looking back at James, "Where DO they get all that energy?" Arianna said laughing as she walked James to the door.
"I have no idea, but if I ever find out, I'm going to replicate it. Take care Arianna." The doctor said and made his way out the door and on to his next house call.
