Mission: Survival of the fittest

Timeline: S 02 EP 01 PT 01 1200 GMT

[Bridge]

Frank stood on the bridge as the USS Pennsylvania crept closer to the Iota Station. It had been an eventful year since their arrival, and now they were limping back to the station for repairs. Their need for parts had been radioed ahead by another vessel due to the lack of their comms ability. The week following the Kazon engagement had been stressful, with little sleep. The highlight was the promotion ceremony, and the dark side was the burial of several crew members. It was the two sides to each coin Frank thought.

"Take us in nice and easy, Commander," Frank told his recently promoted Helmsman.

Understood Captain, replied Rouni. Helm at one-quarter impulse 2500 meters and closing. As we got closer the helm responded great 1000 meters activating reverse thruster. Ship speed .1 impulse and slowing. As we came to a stop the ship sat at full level.

Docking complete and they are hooking us up now Captain.

Thank you, Captain" replied Rouni

"Excellent job Commander," Frank replied.

"Thank you Captain" replied Rouni.

=/\= Doc, we are safely docked at Iota, prepare your patients for transport =/\= Frank said to Lieutenant Trallos.

=/\= Understood Captain. Preparing them for transport. I'll begin ordering my resupplies after they are safely gone. Trallos Out.=/\= the Doctor replied.

=/\= Commander Sky-Kamar, we are safely docked, power down the engines and give them a rest.=/\= Frank told his wife.

"Already powering down the core. Rest? Your joking, we got a ship to repair," Arianna said, looking at her engine room, which was still a mess of fibre optic wires, blown out panels and busted consoles, not to mention the nacelles needing new coils.

"Lieutenant Sh'veqan, please set a standard port watch and provide an escort for our wounded crewman please," the Captain asked his Chief of Security.

"Aye Captain, standard port watch. Captain getting a message from the base commander, Commodore Hansen. You are instructed to report to his office with your logs and visual records at 1300 hrs." Shri'Rao reported.

"Duly noted Lieutenant," the captain replied without betraying his emotions. It wasn't good that he was already summoned before they completed docking procedures.

"Lieutenant Hunter, please proceed with whatever repairs are needed for the computer systems, I will be meeting with engineers later today to try to obtain parts to patch our LCARS and replace the computer core," Captain Kamar directed his Operations Chief.

Simon replied "will do Sir as soon as I have all the requisition forms from the other department head's," as he knew that the ship's store needed to be restocked and knew that the stations Quartermaster was not going to be happy with him. He continued " can you see to it did that we get the supplies sent to the right ship this time? "

"I'll make sure of it Lieutenant Hunter, thank you," Frank said to his Operations Officer.

"Lieutenant K'Relar, if Commander Roinu can spare you I'd like to see if you could assist Ensign Hunter. Provide Security and an extra set of hands as necessary," Frank explained to the newly promoted Lieutenant.

Rouni replied, "I have no need for the LT at this time. I plan to stay on the Bridge and oversee the repairs on the Flight Controls with your permission Captain.

Frank rubbed his temples the lack of sleep and stress had caused him to slip up. He meant to ask his Chief of Security, not Helm. "My apologies Lieutenant K'Relar, you are security, not helm. Please check with Lieutenant Sh'veqan."

"Lieutenant K'relar you're with me," Shri'Rao said.


M'Relar nodded to her superior office Lt Shri'Rao," Yes ma'am, the young Caitian said and followed her."

Watching the screen closely while his officers reacted to his orders, Frank, backed slowly to stand close to the Major before speaking quietly, "Major it appears the lights on the Graviton Catapult are completely off. It appears to be shut down."

Just as quietly back "wow Captain, your powers of observation are truly astounding!" She responded giving the Captain a friendly but mischievous smile, but then got serious "you are right Captain!" she said and walked over to the currently vacant Secondary Science station "now let's see if I have observed enough to operate this!" she said to herself, tapping a few buttons "ah, yes" she looks at Kamar "Captain sensors are saying that all power to the whole station is gone, there is no power on the station at all, and it is reading a lot of technical failures, beyond that we cannot tell from here. We will need to send an Away team over to see, I would suggest a Security to secure the place and an engineering team to follow up to repair systems" the Major said.

"Slow down, Major maybe we need to check with Commodore Hanson first, the Graviton falls under the Iota Station command. I do think we definitely to see what is going on," Frank took a deep breath. This wasn't good, if they couldn't get in touch with Alpha and get parts, they might not be able to fix all the damage to the Penn.

Griffiths grumbled under her breath, but it was the Captain's choice "as you wish Captain" Griffiths simply said.

Shaking her head, Arianna walked out of her office and surveyed the damage again, not happy, she headed to the bridge to talk to her husband about repairs.

Frank stared at the catapult, without it they were cut off from repair parts they needed, he needed to speak with the Commodore immediately. As the docking procedures finished he addressed his crew.

"I'm not sure why the catapult is offline, it may just be for repairs, at least that's what I'm hoping for. I'm going to go speak with Commodore Hansen to see what the situation is. In the meantime we need to begin getting repair estimates to the Iota's engineering team, let's try to get as much completed as we can. Any questions?" Frank asked to hope to prevent and unneeded stress.

"Good Luck Captain," Shri'Rao said.

Aye Captain replied Rouni

When no one responded Frank went to his ready room to get his Padd before going to the station.

[Iota Station: Lounge]

"That...that is the ship I've been reassigned to" Jane whispered in awe as she watched the ship gracefully gliding into port. Jane felt her heart fall at the sight of the heavily damaged vessel. 'all those poor people, it's so fortunate they made it back.'

"Well look at that piece of scrap." The phrase was followed by a harsh laugh from the gentleman that had come to stand at the large viewing window a few feet from her.

Jane didn't know him and thus did her best to ignore the remark against what was as of docking to be her first duty station the USS Pennsylvania. He could laugh all he wanted. He had no idea after all of the terrible ordeals that the crew had so recently suffered. That 'piece of scrap' rumours had it had survived an attack from 3 Kazon battle vessels. Jane was not sure exactly what type, it changed from crewman to crewman as it grew with every retelling.

Taking one last sip of her coffee, she let the warmth of it tingle through her before abandoning her place at the window, as the appearance of the damaged ship was beginning to draw a crowd now. She needed to go and report for duty. Her ship had finally come in. The wayward thought made her smile as she recycled the coffee cup and made her way to the docking bay. From the looks of things, she'd have her work cut out for her soon enough. 'Bring it on.'

[Ships Bridge]

Griffiths sitting back looked at Captain Kamar "well, we are finally back, I just hope we can get us some replacement parts, otherwise, this ship is not leaving this station again" she commented

"Me too Major" Frank replied and left the bridge

Rouni told the CO and XO, "With help from engineering flight controls won't take long to get online and ready to be used, Sir."

Seeing that the captain was not there, Arianna walked to the ready room and hit the door chime, and without waiting, walked in. "Frank, why is the power on the catapult off?" she inquired. "Do I need to put together an away team of engineers to go over there?" she asked her husband.

"I don't know I'm headed to meet Commodore Hansen now to see what's going on. As soon as I get back we will develop a plan," Frank said to his wife before kissing her and leaving for Iota Station.
