Unscheduled appointment

Posted on Thu Aug 15th, 2019 @ 8:39pm by Lieutenant Thegog Grun & Lieutenant JG Ryan North

Mission: Onboarding & Departure
Location: Main Science Labs - Deck 6

Thegog stepped off the turbolift and headed towards the Main Science Labs. They didn't have that appointment scheduled, but what better time than now. He walked in and looked around for Lieutenant North.

"What can I do for you chief?" Ryan asked, setting down his PADD.

Once he followed the sound of the voice, Thegog saw who he was looking for. "Lieutenant, I want to go over the systems with you. I assume everything will be ready for us leaving soon. I was running a diagnostic of the sensors, and it shows there is a slight phase variance in the chroniton particle detector. It looks like it has something to do with a project one of your people might be working on."

Ryan frowned. "Well, I suppose that's a possibility, however, I thought that I had looked through all the projects that require active integration with ships systems."

"It should be looked at anyways." Thegog said with a nod. He then looked up at North. "How are you liking your new stations? The put a lot of work into refitting the science department, considering how much data we will be collecting, and how busy you are going to be."

"Managing the inflow of raw data is the easy part," Ryan said. "It's putting it all together after the influx that should prove fairly challenging."

"If there is anything I can help you with, let me know. Is this your first time as a Science Chief."

"Thank you but I think that I have everything under control... so far. And yes, this is technically my first time in charge of an entire shipboard department."

"It can be overwhelming." Thegog, trying to be 'nice', continues not to argue at every chance he gets. "I would like to know what kinds of research you may be focusing on. I understand you will have quite a bit of data over a large range of specifications. The new sensor pod is very powerful, and because of that it also draws a lot of power. The refit did boost our power output to compensate, but there may come times where I may have to divert power for more important systems, and some of the new sensors may have to suffer because of it. I would like to know what it is you would like to keep running, in case that happens."

"Ships safety is paramount, in that situation feel free to take whatever power from the labs and experiments that you'll need."

Thegog harrumphed a bit. "Your very amicable Lieutenant. I don't like it. Where is your Tellerite spirit. Your desire to argue. You are making this way too easy, and also not very fun."

Ryan smiled. "I was a MACO, I served with Tellarites, I am well aware of how much entertainment comes from a good argument but alas, I have no argument to make. If we find ourselves in a situation where pulling power from my systems is needed, then that's what needs to be done."

"Well, very good then." Thegog turned to walk away, stopped, turned back to look at the Lieutenant with a little confusion. "Very good." He then turned away again and started to leave.
