Reporting to a new ship assignment

Posted on Sun May 31st, 2020 @ 4:07pm by Lieutenant Commander Deannen Roinu

Mission: Prime Mystery
Location: Fighter

Deannen had been on here last assignment for a while. She knew Star Fleet move the Officers around at times just to keep everyone on their toes. You stay in one place too long you start making mistakes. She was told to take the fighter she was currently flying and to report to the Pennsylvania. She took off and found it would be a nice 2 hour flight at .8 impulse. She was looking forward to relaxing and not having to block out the thoughts of others around her.

She took along a book on a tablet to read during the trip. after flying to the location she was given she slowed her flight to .3 impulse. As she approached she saw the ship and did a wide circle around the Pennsylvania looking her over. As she did the circle she called in.

"Blackwulf01 to Pennsylvania Bridge, request permission to land in a flight deck."

Captain Kamar gave the authorized clearance from his ready room for the fighter to land. It would be a squeeze having been another fighter on board but it would be temporary. The Admiral already told Frank the craft would be transferred to the colony defense force once it was established. He sent an Ensign to the shuttle bay to escort the Pilot to his Ready Room.

Deannen landed as instructed. And got out of the fighter to climb down to the deck. As She turned around and ensign came up to here. " Follow me the Captain is waiting for you."

She followed and soon was on the Bridge.

“Come in,” Captain Kamar said from his Ready room as the chime sounded, he saw the young officer enter and thought *Just once why can’t it be a Vulcan, just so I’m not the oldest guy in the room* Standing up he stepped from behind his desk, “ Welcome Aboard Lieutenant.”

Deannen stepped in, and stood at attention. "Thank you Captain, Here is my copy of my file for you. LT Deannen Rouni reporting for duty Sir."

“Good Morning Lieutenant Rouni,” Frank said as he stood up from desk and accepted the Padd containing her files. After a quick once over of her uniform, he said, “At ease Lieutenant Rouni, I’m Captain Kamar, feel free to grab a drink and take a seat,” as he pointed to the replicator and an empty chair. “Tell me a bit about yourself LT, while I glance over your records here.”

Rouni got a coffee and sat down, I graduated top of my fighter training at the Academy and have got a huge hate for the Breen when they killed my family when I was young. I have 16 kills confirmed while dogfighting in fighters. Have had 2 fighters shot out from under me and receive nonlife threating wounds that Sickbay took care of.

I do sometimes relax in the holodeck to keep my sense sharp. I am a telepath and know when to use it and when not to. I will go all the way when I know I am right but stop short when I am wrong. I am sometimes called stubborn because of this. I am fluent in earthly martial arts, and fighting with Klingon and Vulcan weapons.

Frank nodded as he listened, “Sounds impressive Lieutenant, I see here that you were transferred because you are trying to work your way up through the ranks for a leadership position. What do you want to become a Captain?”

Rouni answered,"I want to go as high as I can get sir, if that stops at Captain or even lower so be it. I just love being in Star Fleet. I hope it never ends for me Sir.

“I understand you want to go as high and as far as you can in Starfleet, but Lieutenant what is it that drives you? What do you leave known areas to explore the unknown, to lead men and women possibly to their deaths? As a Captain you are responsible for their lives Lieutenant,” Frank explained hoping to understand the new Lieutenant.

“Well Captain we can all die out here a long ways from home in a fight against the enemy or in a training accident. Or even in a situation where a disease gets loose and kills us. I come here willingly to go and explore. Plus also want to train anyone serving under me to be their best. If everyone including myself are on top of the game. Then we all go home. I think leadership is earned and not given. And leadership comes from mutual respect for one another. And you have to trust the members of your command to make the right decision.”

Frank nodded as he listened and stroked his trimmed gray beard. “I wholeheartedly agree with you Lieutenant, with an attitude like that you’ll have a ship of your own in no time. Did you start out flying starships or fighters?” He asked curiously.

Rouni smiled," I started in fighters, but starships is a natural progression as you advance your career. I have been know to do some things that ad considered crazy in a fighter. But I am only do what it takes to defend a protected area and some times that requires unorthodox means.

I went up one time against Breen fighter out numbered 5 to 1. You do what you have to to protect you home sir."

"Understood Lieutenant," Frank said as he stood, "Do you have any questions or concerns before we finish up? I know you want to settle in to your quarters."

Rouni smiled, "Not at this time, as you know fighter pilots carry fewer things than do Marines. We carry what we can stow in the small area where our flight bags are stowed.

“Thank you for your time Lieutenant, you are dismissed,” Frank said as he turned his attention back to his work.

To uni replied,"aye Sir" As she stood and walked to the door. It opened and she exited.
