Frank watched the viewscreen shift back to the stars. He waited a moment to verify the Comms channel had been closed before turning to his officers on the bridge, he left the Department Head channel so they could hear the conversation and participate from their respective areas.

“Helm, maintain a slow course in this area, for now, Security, let’s keep the shields, for now, they appear friendly but I don’t want to take any chances. I think they could help us with some knowledge of the area, and truly seemed ready to help, but I think we should remain vigilant. Now then sound off with any thoughts or opinions.”

Griffiths was sitting in her seat at the side of the Captain's chair and looking through a Padd if the captain wanted her, he would call her, for now, he was simply giving orders.

"Understood sir. Slow and steady", Yarinna said as she took the ship to 100 kph.

Shri'Rao listened to the Captain.

"Captain I suggest we set yellow alert condition two then," Shri'Rao stated.

"Noted Lieutenant," Frank replied.

"As for opinions, they seem a little like the Bynars, talking in tandem, though they seem eager to help. I suggest we do things their way. This is after all their space. They seem to know far more about it than we do. Also, they are warp capable and from what my scans indicate they have comparable technology to ours. We should prepare a list of the conditions and specifications we want for a planet to colonize. If they can help us lets let them. It would be nice to come into a system and not have to shoot it out with the locals, Sir. Recommend we proceed cautiously and see what happens." Shri'Rao stated.

"I do agree with you Lieutenant, but if they do provide us with coordinates, I want to make sure we have security teams in place and coordinated with the Marines. I want to scan the hell out of everything as we go, as nice as the Overseer seems I do not want to enter a trap."

"I completely concur Sir. Trust but verify. It could take some time to find a planet that will be suitable for our needs. We can continue to train our SAR and QRF teams in the meantime." Shri'Rao said.

Arianna spoke up, "I still can't understand why I can't sense them. It is a little unnerving to me.", she stated. "Maybe medical can find out why?", she added.

"Perhaps it's a defensive mechanism. The way that the Overseer pair spoke to us, speaking in perfect tandem, may mean that they have some form of psychic abilities? Their joint brain waves could be interfering with your ability to sense them?" Chief offered while looking over at Arianna "Or perhaps their technology just inhibits external psychic connections. After all, the Overseer did have to inform their computer about our incoming transmission. Without more data, I can't form an accurate hypothesis, however."

"I'd be willing to bet its technological. Most of my sensor readings seem to be slightly out of phase like there is an echo afterimage." Shri'Rao reported. "It seems to be some kind of doppler shift effect and its all up and down the electromagnetic and subspace spectrum up to and including transporter ranges ." She added.

Griffith's perks her ears up at the mention "psychic and joint brain waves" words were used, she remained silent but mentally shuddered.

Frank listened to the ongoing conversation and waited for a pause, "Lieutenant Sh'veqan, from a security standpoint what are your recommendations moving forward?"

Shri'Rao's antennae twitched as she considered her answer.

"From a security point of view, concerning this phenomenon, I recommend we study it and put some of our own technology to use to counter the effects. Concerning our new friends I recommend we wait and see what they can come up with. The Dalcari seem friendly and straight forward enough, though I would also recommend first contact protocols be in effect. We will need allies in the Delta quadrant if our mission is to be successful. The Dalcari implied they are part of a larger alliance or community. It would be prudent to learn more about that as well, Sir". Shri'Rao replied.

Frank nodded, "I agree with Lieutenant Sh'veqan. We will remain at yellow alert, and remain in this area until we hear from the Overseer. In the meantime I want us to continue to see what we can find with our long-range scanners. Does anyone else have anything to add?"

For the First time since they had started things on the bridge, Griffiths spoke up "why do I get the feeling we are going to have a tough time ahead!" It was not a question, but a statement.

"Well all the same I will leave my fighter on ready standby just in case and have my relief helmsman on standby as well," Yarinna said finally.


Frank waited a few minutes before speaking again, “If no one else has anything to add, then carry on with the plan of the day.”
