Mission: Discovery
Location: Ready Room

Frank sat in his quarters reviewing the data the sensors and scout ship. He really needed to get the rest of his staff involved, he waited a few days to allow everyone some time for R&R. He received word that the last of the crew was on board, now that his crew was reunited he decided not to waste time further, there was to much work to do. Frank sent a summons to his senior staff requiring their presence in the ready room in one hour. An alert from his computer notified him it was nearly time to begin, he left his private quarters and made his way to the ready room.

M'Relar was dressed in her quarters and getting ready to start her day she opened the door of her quarters and took off for another day of security work she headed towards the turbo lift to see her security chief. she got to the lift and walked in, and called for Security, to see what's up.

=/\=Yes Ensign K'relar. This is Lt Sh'Veqan. I am going to need you to man Tactical on the bridge, the captain has called for a meeting of his senior officers, please report to the bridge.=/\= Shri'Rao sent.

M'relar tapped her comm. "Yes, Sir I'm on my way to the bridge I'm on the turbo lift to the bridge," M'relar said while on the lift as she was heading to the bridge.

Bridge duty was considered an honour, but for a senior officer, it was simply a part of their duty, especially for the Security Chief. This was a good time to break in Ensign K'relar. She would stand her watch while Shri'Rao was in the meeting.

M'Relar was trained in Ops and Shri'Rao knew she had been studying security procedures. It was time to put those skills to the test. So far the Caitian had proved herself a good officer and Shri'Rao knew she needed to give her opportunities to build her confidence as well as her skill.

Griffiths was on the bridge minding the shop from the Captain's seat while the Captain was preparing things, she looked over as the lift doors opened and out walked Ensign K'relar "hello Ensign, I assume you have been assigned to the tactical station?" Griffiths asked looking at the young officer.

M'Relar got to the bridge, and looked at Major Griffiths, "Yes Sir, I'm at Tactical." The young Catian said to her Superior officer as she went to the Tactical Station.

"Welcome to the bridge," Griffiths said with a friendly smile.

Shri'Rao briefed M'relar on their current status thanked her and then left the bridge heading to the ready room.

The doctor was at his usual position in his office, lounged back in his chair with a PADD in front of him. The Chief had managed Sickbay well while he was gone, not that there was much to do with everyone rotating through shore leave. Most had sunburns that visited Sickbay, so the Chief was able to relieve most of his staff, leaving one or two rotating beings on call during the leave in case something came up. He heard the summons and decided to wrap up his charts and get his coffee ready.

Saffiya looked around her new quarters having rearranged her mothers traditional colourful Teismist robe on a manikin in one corner along with her grandmothers silver pendants - a little personal ritual when she dressed her new quarters on a ship - when the call came for a Briefing meeting. She checked her uniform and, for at least the third time, checked her PaDD. She looked herself in the mirror before leaving for the meeting her long braids hanging over her shoulder, the rest tied back. "Well," Saffiya said to herself. "You may not feel like a confident Mission Advisor though, at least, you damn well look like one" and, with that, she left for the meeting.

Rouni had returned from the mission on the shuttle when she received word of a meeting going on. She went straight to the conference room. She entered and got a drink and a quick snack and took her seat at the table. As she was eating and took a drink from the cup she saw Doctor Trallos. "Good day Dr" as she smiled.

"Lieutenant Rouni." The doctor said raising his mug to her. "How was the flight?"

Rouni replied, "It was routine, a little turbulence when we flew through a storm to hide the fact we were there. But nothing out of the normal Doctor.

Sh’zyllit slipped into the room as well, quietly with no fanfare, her normal personality of almost nothing showing through. She took a seat quietly.

Lt Shri'Rao Sh'veqan slipped in and took her place at the table.

While the crew had been enjoying some R&R and shore leave, there wasn't much need for the Command Support Hologram. As a result, Chief had spent most of the time on standby, running diagnostics and standard upgrades to his program. In a way, it was his own version of R&R, making sure that he was operating at full capacity and ready to perform his duties when the crew needed.

That time had apparently come now, Captain Kamar had signalled for a Senior Staff meeting. Due to his role of Chief of the Boat, and his programming, Chief was able to attend most staff meetings. After detecting that some crew members had already arrived in the Ready Room, Chief manifested his avatar just outside the Captain's ready room and walked inside to join the others. "Greetings all, how is everyone doing today?" He asked, with a casual friendly tone as always

James nodded at the Chief. "Was a nice little getaway but it's good to be home and see you Chief."

Chief offered the Doctor, a man he considered a friend, a slight smile "Did you miss me that much Doctor? Perhaps I should dedicate more time to sickbay" he said teasingly

Saffiya entered the meeting room, using her PADD as a tray for a tall steaming latte and a croissant, and sat down. Settling she looked around the gathered command crew.

"Lt JG Saffiya Hadat, Mission Advisor" she made her introductions and settled back in her chair absently pushing a hand through her long braided hair. Feeling a strange mix of apprehension and excitement she sipped her latte and waited for proceedings to get underway.

Frank entered the ready room and ordered a Chai Tea before taking his customary seat. “Thank you for being here on short notice,” He began, “before we discuss the main topic I want to introduce all of you to our Mission Advisor, Lieutenant Hadat who will be working closely with Major Griffiths and myself moving forward, she has a Security and Tactical background and her knowledge will definitely be put to good use out here.”

He paused for a moment before continuing,” now then the reason for this meeting is a mystery. Unravelling a Mystery may be the better definition. Our long-range scanners picked up an anomaly earlier this morning in the Zeta Quadrant on an island, Major Griffiths and I decided the best course of action would be to conduct a flyover with our scout shuttle. The results of these scans have been sent to your PaDD’s and are available to view now. What we have found is the remnants of a starship from the late 2150s and humanoid lifeforms living near the wreckage. The damaged warp core has made it difficult to get accurate readings on their numbers or technological achievements. Major Griffiths or Lieutenant Rouni do either of you have anything to add?”

LT Rouni answered, "Due to a storm going directly over it, I was able to get down to 800 meters in altitude so we were able to get some extremely good readings. Though the Warp Core is offline there appears to be some kind of power source at the ship.

"Also Captain I had a sense of fear from some of them on the surface. And among others a sense of needing help. In a way, I wish I could make contact with them and see what is going on without violating the Prime Directive"

LT Shzyllit, could you find a reason for the power source and what was found there?"

Sh'zyllit looked in the direction of the question. "It has some similarities with Federation technology, unknown if that's a coincidence. Possibly natives or another race set up camp in the wreckage. I will need to fully analyze the details before I speculate too deeply. However, I feel it safe to assume the wreckage has not been left alone since the crash."

Finally arriving a little late "apologies for my tardiness, but had to make sure all was square on the bridge, but I caught what was said and I agree a deeper scan, a more detailed one is needed" Griffiths responded, taking a seat.

Saffiya checked through the images and full spectrum scans on her PaDD, making out some vague specs of light in the IR and UV spectrum which were probably the lifeforms in question.

"Computer, are there any records of missing vessels in the region on any of the available databases?" she asked the ship's AI. She then looked across at Lt Rouni.

"Excuse me Lt Rouni were there any signs of a beacon or any recognizable signals in the area? Perhaps an automated distress signal or similar?" Saffiya asked.

Rouni looked at her and replied, "Not that I could detect, but any type of emergency beacon has a limited amount of time before they go offline. And if the crew cannot find a way to bring it back online. It is useless. Also if they may have had a visit from an unfriendly race they may have turned it off to keep them from finding them.

I could not look closely as I wanted to because of having to work the controls to keep the ship flying.

Also, Captain if I can make a suggestion. The area where the crash occurred is in an area of the planet where there will be no moon tonight. In a fighter, I could do a lower level recon flight at a slow speed to avoid detection and may be able to get a closer and better look at the crash area.

It would be me alone and if something caused me to have to land I could do it in an area far from the site and not make contact with them."

Chief listened carefully to the briefing and suggestions that the rest of the crew had been offering. While doing this, he was studying several Starfleet reports on first contact situations and studying primitive life. During his search, Chief uncovered a Starfleet plan to study the Ba'ku civilization, while the mission details were still mostly classified, it did allow the Hologram to come up with an idea "Captain, if I may. I have an idea that may allow us to get a closer look at the crash site, without being detected" he offered, looking towards Kamar.

Arianna looked at Chief expectantly waiting for the details. "Well Chief, spit it out, don't keep us in suspense", she said.

"Rouni, I wouldn't take a fighter, they don't have the scanning equipment like our scout and science vessels do," the Captain said before turning to the hologram. "Go Ahead Chief, what do you have in mind?"
