Lounging around

Mission:
Shore Leave
Location: Shore
James was sprawled out on a lawn chair. He found a nice place on the beach that was shaded by a gigantic palm tree, or whatever this planets version of it was. It gave a cool retreat from the heat of the afternoon sun. He had the biggest Mai Tai they had in his hand. They even added the little umbrella at the Tiki bar. James had to admit, they did a heck of a job.
Hey Doc, how are ya?” Frank asked as he sat in a chair next to his friend. He lit his cigar and then leaned back lazily with an umbrella drink in the other hand. “I’m not here long but I did want to come check the place out, I think they did pretty good,” he said as a small smoke ring slowly rose and expanded.
James laughed, pulling out his own cigar from his box next to his chair. "You're a busy man Captain, but I think you need to make sure you take some extra time for R&R. The Major can handle things on the bridge while you're gone." He said as lit the cigar.
“I know Doc, but there are things afoot that I’m not at liberty to discuss yet. I will enjoy some R&R where I can. Care for a cigar?” He asked as lounged back contentedly in his chair.
"Won't say no to that." James leaned over and took one. "I won't pry. I don't want you to have to kill me after telling. Although this isn't a bad planet to be buried on." He said lighting up. "Can I make a recommendation Frank as your doctor and friend?"
“ Sure Doc as long as it’s not the ‘Don’t take your work so seriously ‘ speech” Frank said laughing at his own joke.
James laughed. "Trust me Frank, I know that would be waisted breath. It would be waisted on me too probably. What I wanted to ask was with all that has been going on with work, how much time have you been spending with your lovely wife and Hannah?"
Frank paused and took a deep breath, “not as much as I should Doc, I swear it feels like I’m married to this dang ship. I know what you’re saying though and I will make it a point to spend more time with them.”
The doctor puffed on his cigar for a moment. "What if you blend some of it together? Have a lunch date with your family in the ready room or observation lounge. Could add family time while your on the bridge. Also, the Major is a very capable woman, she could manage a shift easily enough and knows when and how to get ahold of you if it is appropriate."
"You're correct as usual Doc, thanks for the talk. I think I need to get back to the ship to amend the watch schedule," Frank said as he finished his cigar.
"Sounds good Frank. If it gets too hard up, technically I'm on the list for bridge watch. Low on the list, but for shore leave I can pinch hit for you to get a little extra time with the family."
“Thanks Doc, Ill see ya later,” Frank said as he began planning a surprise for his wife.
