A Planet Nicknamed Paradise

Posted on Fri Jun 19th, 2020 @ 8:44am by Major Naomi Sylan Griffiths & Lieutenant Commander Deannen Roinu & Lieutenant JG Zassia Sh'zyllit

Mission: Prime Mystery
Location: Various
Timeline: Day 1 0800

After arriving at the planet located, it was indeed a Class M and tropical, Griffiths was looking at the planets surface from the rear sensor station, blue skies, white sandy beaches and clear water and from what instruments said there was a continuous light breeze, the location they were seeing was a large island, she turned back to the console.

"Captain, we may have us a small caveat" Griffiths announced

"What is it Major?" Frank asked as he walked to the auxiliary panel.

"If I am correct there is a primitive population on the mainland, early humanoids at the same level of tech as the humans who started to build Stonehenge on earth, if I am reading these sensors correctly, the section of the planet we are seeing Captain is on an isolated island far enough from their primitive eyes and as long as we keep ourselves on that island during shore-leave we should be good and we would have to remember to take all we bring back with us too," Griffiths said.

"Interesting, Frank said as he looked over the readouts, "Major look here," he said quietly, "That is the breakdown of dilithium crystals, that takes a couple of thousand years to get that point. This is quite odd."

*Looks at him* "how so Captain?" Naomi simply asked keeping her peripheral visual on the image on the screen.

“There is a faint warp core signature, based on the half-life decay it’s a few hundred years old. My best guess is between 200-500 years. Similar to the old drives on the Constellation Class I think. I believe we have discovered a shipwreck, Major.” Kamar explained.

Looking at the readings again "Could be still is that not what we are here for?" She asked then looked back at the Science Officer "Lieutenant, lock onto that signature and see if you can find out more and feed them to the helm station" Griffiths said standing back and looking at Roinu "Lieutenant, be ready to lock in the coordinates Science send to you, and be prepared to engage on the Captain's order" Griffiths added.

Roinu smiled, "I am ready when needed and can be going over it all.

"Aye," Sh'zyllit responded in a monotone voice. She quickly began both the initial scans and more detailed scans of specific areas of stronger concentration. "Exact coordinates will take time, no singular concentration, coordinates sent for the centre of readings. I will update as scans complete," She finally added, after a few moments working on her station.

“Lieutenant Rouni, have you flown a scout ship before? We have one Aboard and I think we may need to do a fly-by and see what we can figure out. If you come across civilians do not, I repeat do not be seen, I don’t want a Prime Directive incident here,” Frank said with a hint of caution in his voice.

”Rouni smiled, I have flown every class of shuttle that there is in Star Fleet. And 4 classes of starships. Where and what do you need to be done. I can put it on a wine glass and not even crack it. I am ready when you are LT Sh'zyllit

“Lieutenant Sh’zyllit, can you assist Rouni, with the scanning remotely while she pilots the scout vessel? I really want to know what’s down there, and ladies,” Frank said addressing all three, “The ship is going on shore leave, I do not want anything from this conversation or flyover to be discussed outside of the four of us, understood?”

"Yes sir," Sh'zyllit replied, turning to Rouni. "I would like to install additional science packages to the shuttle and link directly to Science for ease of data analyzation. When you are ready I will assist you in prepping the shuttle you've chosen," She said in a very matter of fact, but gentle tone. She turned momentarily to shut down the science station after transferring the data.

Rouni smiled, I am ready when you are LT Sh'zyllit. let me know if you need any assistance with installing the equipment you need.

Shy'zyllit nodded. "I will go prep your shuttle then if there is no further discussion needed."

Rouni smiled, "Not a problem I will grab my usual flight bag I use anytime I leave the ship and meet you in the shuttle bay. So we can take off when you wish.

Rouni entered the shuttle bay carrying her flight bag. She walked over and smiled. "Ready when you are LT Shy'zylilt". As she went on board and started her pre-flight checks and stowed the flight bag. then took her seat at the flight controls.

Sh'zylilt removed herself from a side compartment, buttoning it up methodically with almost a rhythm to her movements. "The vessel should be ready, low level diagnostics indicate proper working order." She moved to console, bringing up the science information as she settled into the chair.

I am ready when you are Lieutenant, when do you wish to take off?

Turning to face Rouni for a moment, not realizing it was up to her. "I am ready to proceed with the survey," She said.

Rouni smiled, " Understood. I wanted to be sure you had all your stuff on board and had stowed it away.

Shuttle Discovery to Bridge, request permission for takeoff"

Looking back "good luck," Griffiths said then returned to the screen "so Captain, what do you think the signature actually is? A full but crashed ship or a piece of a crashed ship? But we must be aware that the Prime Directive may be in effect when we arrive on the plant" she added.

“I’m honestly not sure what we are dealing with here, Major. It could be old space junk or a missing starship. I do hope a closer scan will clear the picture so to speak. If it is or was a warp-capable species does that not provide a little grey area to manoeuvre within the Prime Directive?” Frank asked resting his First Officer.

"I am not fluent on the prime directive Captain but and I quote" she then quoted a part of the Prime Directive "The Prime Directive prohibits Starfleet personnel and spacecraft from interfering in the normal development of any society and mandates that any Starfleet vessel or crew member is expendable to prevent violation of this rule and as the right of each sentient species to live in accordance with its normal cultural evolution is considered sacred, no Starfleet personnel may interfere with the normal and healthy development of alien life and culture. Such interference includes introducing superior knowledge, strength, or technology to a world whose society is incapable of handling such advantages wisely. Starfleet personnel may not violate this Prime Directive, even to save their lives and/or their ship, unless they are acting to right an earlier violation or accidental contamination of the said culture. This directive takes precedence over any and all other considerations and carries with it the highest moral obligation" she finished the quote and looked surprised.

"Wow, I actually remembered that! Okay I have just impressed myself *looks at Kamar* but otherwise, I do not know much in the way of General Order One Captain" she said with a smile.

Frank nodded, “Not bad Major, not bad at all, I think we’ll keep you around for a while.

Naomi gave him a smile "I am pleased to hear that Captain" she responded leaving an uncertain but slightly sinister hint.

Sitting in his chair he gave the authorization for Rouni to take the scout ship, he was impressed with how well his flight and science chiefs were getting along. “Major, we have a front-row seat for whatever we are dealing with, let’s get the shuttle view onscreen while Sh’zyllit calls out data. “

Sitting in the First Officers chair "that we do Captain, that we do" Griffiths said.

After Rouni got permission to take off. She applied power to the thrusters and slowly left the shuttle bay. One clear of Pennsylvania, she slowly banks to Port and applied a little more speed. "Shuttle Discovery to Bridge, we are clear of shuttle bay and proceeding to the location to begin our scans. Will send information back Live stream to Pennsylvania so you can save data and also monitor if you wish. Shuttle Discovery out."

“Acknowledged” Frank replied, as his eyes remained glued on the live feed.

She looks at Lt Sh'zyllit, Any certain way you wish to approach the site. I was thinking approach with the sun at our back. And like we are in direct line with it. This may make it harder for anyone on the planet to see us."

Sh'zyllit sat quietly tapping away at her console. Within several moments of silence that came after the end of the question and suggestion, she spoke. "I have outlined several search patterns that would be preferable. I believe option two is similar to your suggestion, however, any will do."

Rouni smiled, "I will use the options you made and since there are scattered clouds passing over the area as well we can make use of them too. She started her first pass over the area. Take all the scans you want to do. I got nothing but time to spend looking at the scenery."

"After the initial passes, we will most likely have to make course adjustments based on the data, I will let you know," Sh'zyllit responded, quickly tapping at her console as she interpreted and analyzed the data being presented. She mumbled single words to herself at irregular intervals.

Frank watched the readouts, “Major I believe we have life forms present if I’m reading this correctly and that area to The left looks a Starship nacelle, of an older variety. At first glance, I think this may be a Starfleet ship. Taken one more pass Lieutenant Rouni and return please.” Frank couldn’t believe what he was seeing, he needed to get the rest of his staff involved ASAP.

Tapping the arm of her chair to pull up the feed "It looks like a Pre-Federation nacelle from around the 2150s Captain, best bet, that it is human, which means knowing the human mind they may have forgotten all about warp drive and such advanced technical matters and devolved into a more primitive society, the only question remains how the devil did it get this far out into the DQ, colony ships of that area could do a maximum warp speed of warp four point five tops in short bursts, yet here is a 22nd-century ship out in the DQ, I hate mysteries" Griffiths said.

“I’m not sure, let’s not speculate until we have all the data, though it is intriguing,” the Captain said as he monitored the situation.

Rouni replied, "Understood Captain, There is a cloud deck that will allow for a lower pass this time. We will be about 1200 meters of the surface and allow for a better look Captain." Rouni looked at Shyzillit and smile, "This pass may have some turbulence due to the storms coming from the clouds. Make everything ready. I think one pass is all we may get."

"Understood, proceed," Sh'zyllit responded immediately. While the nacelle of the primary focus of her data collection, she was watching the side readings of the inhabitants and energy patterns coming from civilization. Without having the time to mull over the live feed data, she felt something was weird, but couldn't put a finger on it.

Rouni set in the coordinates and moved closer to the flight controls. She knew with extreme turbulence in some storms she may have to take manual control. She found on this pass as they entered the storm she could get down to 800 meters above the site. Hoping this would give a better look at what they were seeing.

She kept her attention on the controls and ignored what Lt Sh'zyllit was doing. Her main focus was on the controls and keeping them from crashing. As the went over the site through the storm she had the shields and maximum strength and had to take manual control of the flight systems. Once they finished their last pass she quickly regained altitude and once clear of the storm reset the controls to autopilot and set course to Pennsylvania.

"Ready when you are Sh'zyllit what do we do now?"

Quickly tapping through the console, Sh'zyllit processed what data had been collected. She would need a full science station to go through the particulars to make any determinations, however, she worked to figure out what she had for the moment. "I have all the data needed for now. I am content to return to the ship," she finally responded, the quiet air almost getting awkward by the time she spoke up.

Rouni called the ship, Shuttle Discovery to Bridge, "What are our further orders Captain? I am not sure right now

"Come on back Rouni, we are going to get Chief and a couple of others to process the data you've collected. Thank You," Frank replied

Rouni replied, "On our way Captain."

She looked at Shzyllit, "Let's get this information back to the Ship." She set in course and in a few minutes, the were approaching Pennsylvania and received permission to dock in Landing Bay 2.

“I’m going to call a meeting once we get the data processing completed, Well done everyone,” Frank replied.
