"Lonely Again!"

Location: Captain's Quarters

Arianna was trying to understand Frank's facination with the Dalacari. Since the arrival of the Ambassador's, he had spent less time home with her and poor Hannah than she wanted to admit. True they were facinating people and the whole nine yards but.... It was like he was spending more time with them than with his wife and adopted child. Hannah was missing him terrible and it was very sad to see her asking Arianna where her daddy was. Sure he was the ships captain and his job dod keep him busy but was beginning to get a bit much to stand.

Frank walked into his quarters, they were en route to the first planet suggested by the Dalacari. He had been engrossed in his work lately and he knew Arianna was upset when he walked in. "Hello dear," he said as he walked in and sat down in his chair exhausted.

Arianna came from Hannah's room, "Hannah is finally asleep. She is missing you badly Frank. When are you going to spend some quality time with her?", she said, setting his drink down next to him. "I know you are busy and I also know the Dalacari are a fascinating species but you do have a life you know......a family that misses you too!", Arianna said growling slightly.

“They are fascinating, but this is bigger than the Dalacari. I have a chance to do something worthwhile that will be remembered. We are discovering a potentially new planet that could be the beginning of something bigger here. It’s bigger than me or even the ship. I’m under pressure from Starfleet they already have a colony ship and an engineer ship waiting on the other side of the Graviton waiting on my signal, my signal holds the lives of this crew, those colonists and engineers in its grasp. It’s a lot Arianna, and I’m sorry if I’ve missed a dinner or two trying to prepare the away teams and working with the science nerds,” Frank said beginning to get upset.

"I understand that Starfleet is busting your backside, but you have to take some time for not only your family but YOU as well. What happens to the mission if you are laid up in sick bay unable to finish? That's why you have an XO Frank, to help you. You also have a 2XO to help as well. The resources are there for you to use. This is not a one captain show! Its about the mission. You will get the recognition regardless. Believe me Frank, I can see between the lines, it is a lonely job being a captain but here you are not alone. You have a great crew to stand behind you and if you asked them to go the extra mile they would die doing it. So would I and my job is not easy in engineering either. I have to keep the Pennsylvania running in order for those colonists and engineers to come here to settle that planet. We are the front line in this case, first contact situations. Engineering also has to physically check this planet too! I have to make sure that we can build on the ground and that is not going to be easy at all. So yes Frank spending time with you and you with Hannah comes with a price", Arianna said*running into the bedroom tears streaming down her face not wanting to let Hannah see her crying*. Arianna could not keep her anger in check and she blew up. It hurt her to say the truth but it was how she felt and knew that Frank was also correct but not totally. He had to make time for family and rest.

Frank sat in his chair and gave Hannah a sad smile, maybe she was right, he thought to himself. I do need more time with them. Frank decided to schedule a holodeck for a picnic, he stood to go comfort Arianna when his comms sounded.

"I'll be back as soon as I can, I promise," Frank said as he left his quarters.

Arianna sensed him leaving and between the anger welling up inside her and the tears she could not stop she heard a small childs voice and a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't cry please, it will be ok......he promised he would be back Arianna. He will make it right with us", Hannah said trying to comfort Arianna.

Grasping the child in a bear hug Arianna smiled. At least the comfort of the child helped to ease some of the hurt but not all. "I know Hannah....I know......it is not easy being married to the captain of a starship but I love him so I have to adjust", she said looking at Hannah. "Let's go play jacks ok?" Hannah squealed in delight and soon both were playing the game together.
