Lt Draestad had convened an officers fitness hearing for Lt. Shri'Rao Sh'veqan. She had been relieved of duty at least temporarily and now awaited a board of inquiry.

Already in the room, Griffiths watched as events progressed.

Officers present were Captain Kamar, Major Griffiths, Lt Sh'veqan and Lt JG Dreastrad.

Shri'Rao entered the ready room in and stood at attention waiting for her chance to speak.

Draestrad entered the captain’s ready room, seeing everyone else there, she lifted her leather-bound PADD and began speaking. “Captain, Major, Lieutenant Sh’veqan. I’d like to start by saying it gives me no pleasure in keeping a hard-working and dedicated officer from her job. However, on Stardate 239403.13, Lieutenant Sh’veqan came to see me. During this session, she conveyed a personal story relating to the Dominion. She then said quite clearly and with certainty that she would quote: Eradicate the Jem'Hadar from existence and if I ever get the chance I will use it, end quote.” Draestrad took a breath before continuing

“She went on to say that she had specifically requested placement in the Gamma quadrant. And Lieutenant Sh’veqan conveyed that should the opportunity present itself, she would use Starfleet resources to carry out this personal vendetta. For these reasons, I believe her to be at the present time unfit for duty, and a danger to us all.” The counsellor concluded.

Shri'Rao nodded her head acknowledging that it was true.

"It's all true Captain, Major. I have never hidden my extreme views of the Dominion, which is one of the reasons I was selected for this assignment in the delta quadrant", Shri'Rao stated with complete candour.

Frank sat and listened as the report had begun, “Lieutenant Sh’veqan, I do assume that you acknowledge being aware of the brevity of this situation. Since your arrival, you have conducted yourself as befitting a Starfleet Officer. I am a little surprised at these remarks. Do you intend to harm this crew or ship in order to fulfil your desires of destruction?”

"Sir I would never put my needs above the ship and crew," Shri'Rao said.

A little surprised Griffiths studied the CoS closely and without hate or suspicion "tell me El-tee, why do you hate the Dominion so much? And there were other postings in the Alpha and Beta quadrants that would not have any dealings with the Dominion, yet you chose delta quadrant, I know little is known about this area so I can see why you are here, but my initial question remains" Griffiths asked.

"Yes Major, I chose this assignment so there would be little chance of ever running into a Jem'Hadar as to why I hate them, they callously and with great joy destroyed my entire clan right before my eyes. My mates, my parents, my cousins, their children all gone. They would have gotten me too, but I proved to be very talented at evasion. I broke free and got lost. But not before killing twenty-three of them with an ice cutter."

Frank was a little surprised at the violence, but he couldn't honestly say he wouldn't have responded in the same way. "Lieutenant, you have been honest and open with us, and I do appreciate that. Your performance aboard Pennsylvania has been satisfactory, though this unresolved hatred does bother me a bit. I am going to suggest counselling, what do you think Major?"

She showed her shock openly "um... Okay, I asked and you answered, thank you for that Lieutenant and while it may be late, my condolences" Griffiths said oO Damn I would likely have the same outlook if that had happened to me Oo she thought.

"Captain I was in counselling when I ended up here". Shri'Rao said.

Beating the Captain to a comment "thank you for telling us, as for the counselling session, if you need to see the one on the ship at any time it will be confidential" Griffiths added.

"Thank you for that Major. May I return to duty?" Shri'Rao asked.

“I see no reason why you cannot perform your duties at this time. If a situation arises in which your leadership is questionable you will be put on probation as it is I thank you for being honest with us. If no one has any objections I believe this will conclude Lieutenant Sh’veqan’s fitness report.

"Thank you Sir" Shri'Rao said.
